Cleaning stove pipe from inside.

Hey guys, I should clean my stove pipe this year. Now I'm on a website "old wood stoves" its pretty cool. I asked and some guys say they don't clean it. Just have a really hot fire will do it. Others say you should do it every year or every third year. Any thoughts on the subject and how would I do it from in the house. My pipe is just too high on my metal roof to get at.

How dirty it gets depends on what you are burning, well seasoned hardwood burned hot does not leave much residue, unseasoned wood and soft wood like pine will have a creosote build up, the main cause of chimney fires. To do a good job it has to be cleaned from the top down.

I burn mostly dead ash. Mixed in is Cherry and oak. all seasoned.
