Tent/cabin/land search

Hi my 2 boys and I are searching for a spot, (farmers field, next to an existing cabin, in the back 40) some place where we can pitch a tent from early September to early December for the long hunting season and late fall fishing. Or the use of an existing rustic cabin.

Somewhere near Raquette, Long, Seventh, Eighth Lake, Moose River Plains or Siamese Pond area.

We are not looking for anything free, we are willing to pay for the privilege of the use of the land. We are hoping for an arrangement like this to offer us some sercurity for our belongings.

Best way is to take a trip in early summer and see if you can find a place. We found a bar that had a room to rent for hunters, and also went to the DEC to get recommendation of what were in the best hunting area, based on road kills of deer or bear...Found a logging firm that also would allow hunting for a fee. This was done several years ago, we had lots of great hunting times at 3rd Lake.

Sometimes, a message with your phone number attached, pinned to the billboard of a local Laundromat or convenience store or supermarket entrance can be the most effective way to reach the locals that might have what you re looking for. It certainly is worth a try. Make up a bunch of copies and take a trip.
