Seed arrived...

Recommended Posts

So the max attract arrived today...forty #'s to do an acre. I broadcast, so I'll be adding more Clover and Alfalfa to the mix...hope to have it in next week. This will give me a good thick annual/ perennial plot...so will then disc in my older clover plot (moss invaded) and plant a turnip/WR plot. I . Actually have 2 other such plot converstions to make...plus another 3 clover/alfalfa areas to do.

Prepare bed smooth...broad cast and drag..not disc in..works well just before a rain...wheat,oats,tritical,yellow clover, berseem clover, chicory, peas, not sure on other clovers....grew great last time and all the next year...disced it in the following fall.what I planted failed...WHT Tail OATS...but dang if chicory and clover came back from max attract..good thing too!...grains should be a good nurse for for clover and spring alfalfa added.

you use a hand seeder?  the one of the things I don't like about commercial blends is the seeds are all mixed and are different sizes.  when you put the opening to sow the largest seed size all the small seeds drop out quick and you are left with an scattered  plot.  at least that's my experience.

Yes ...but with things like this I hand toss...the I go back over with the cover alfalfa seed as a filler with the crank....it works out well and I start on the area closest to where I'll be set up. T hat wayI get things like the peas growing where I want them...but this being a spring planting...doesn't matter.....peas will be wiped out first and you can mow the rest to keep it going well through a frost..encourages the clover growth as well. grains are nothing more than grass...they keep coming until allowed to go to seed..6in depth for cutting no less
