growalot
The garden..yep I have all kinds of alfalfa and clover seed and nothing in or even close to ready ...I have weeded the garden for the 5th time and did try the Preen in 2 spots....with little success...I have one tiny little spot where red/white clovers and trefoil came in on it's own...I just left it and it is just a solid mat of the three...So I tilled/hoed and raked up in between all the plants and the seed rows and and laid down wht clover over every thing. I left one tilled spot for just the late summer /fall crops to be seeded...I'm hoping it grows and helps abate the weed problem...I will take all the mesh for the peas and tomatoes and surround the grape vines and the blue berry bushes this fall and open the gate for the deer during hunting...I have 3 stands in that area over looking the garden. So they will have a little spot in the fall/spring...turkeys as well and I will get a living mulch to till in or perhaps plant rows in next spring....We'll see nothing ventured nothing gained... landtracdeerhunter
Grow, how will you get in to harvest without stepping on the young legumes. Are you worried about drawing rabbits?
growalot
The stepping on them should not be a problem I'll just stay close to the plants and with the melons and squash I won't need to go in for a long time, if the last 5 weedings worked...the rabbits, have not been an issue...we have lots of hawk and owls but the bird mesh I lined the fence with has really helped...all crops that they would eat are "caged" peas,greens,beets,carrots...the garden is a maze of rebar /mesh.Also the entire area out side the garden is wht clover. I planted rows of garlic between the rows of cabbage and broccoli...apparently they do not like garlic knock on wood...
