Mongaup Valley hunting

Anyone ever hunting Mongaup Valley for black bear?  My GF said that her friend owns a place in the area and they went out for a weekend and saw 4 black bear throughout the weekend.

 

I've been trying to get one the last 2 seasons but haven't had the opportunity ( besides mother and cubs that were amazing to watch)

 

Just wanted to know if anyone knows the area and has had any experience hunting there

Used to camp in the area, and bears were not uncommon.

I'm in lake Huntington, not far from there. Some of the highest density of bears in the state is that area of Sullivan County.

I've also camped in Mongaup and we had a few bear sightings in the campground that weekend. Couln't really give any insight on hunting though. good luck!

i've been to ten mile river with my son and have had bears walk thru the camp.

 

later the same weekend we chased a few out of the next camping area.

Is there any public areas to hunt bear in that area?
