See any Woodcock yet

I have not see any in the area. Anyone seeing them yet?

Flushed one in Conklin last night, and shot one in Conklin Forks last weekend. Also went to the Connecticut Hill State game Land in Newfield last weekend and flushed 2.

Im going up this upcoming weekend November 6,7,8.  Hoping to find some in the Chenango area or any grouse.   

 

I heard that the 3rd or 4th week in October was best for flight birds.  Hopefully there will still be some around

I am seeing grouse but no woodcock yet. Headed out with my kids and Setter to hunt now. Pheasant & Grouse hunt will let you guys know if any woodcock.

They already passed though around here a few weeks ago.  Seen a lot of them right from the start of NT bow opener and now they are gone.

Setter pointed 3 for me and the kids, non of us got a shot. Had fun with the family. Last week we hit this area along the river not one today 3.

Had a solo in front of us yesterday, just out walking not hunting.  Stamford/Harpersfield area of NW Catskills.

Saw one at three rivers Monday.

Early in the season and right before, there seemed to be a fair number of resident and/or early flight birds. We didnt see another push of birds until the last day of the season. That was Saturday - I waited to see what was out there on the following day before I posted. On Sunday, about 30 miles north of where we hunted Saturday, there also seemed to be flight birds. Not sure if that confirms anything, even though we have been hunting both areas as well as other areas every week, but it might.

 

Its all over for woodcock in NY, but there is the Pa, season goes to the twenty eighth. The tail end of the Pa. season might be good.

I've seen more woodcock last weekend than I've seen in the last 20 years in Madison County.. I don't hunt them any more, but it brought back memories of when my Dad and I did many years ago.
