Whether you spent the day with family, friends, or just watched TV all day, I hope you had a great day.

 

The better half and I decided back in August, we weren't going to buy each other the usual gifts. We agreed to only spend $20 and make gifts for each other.

 

Instead of a bunch of presents we decided to do something different. We went and saw the new Star Wars movie, and had dinner at a Japanese Hibachi/Sushi restaurant. Movie was good and I think I ate at least two pounds of sashimi. The g/f went with chicken and shrimp from the hibachi and the chef put on a nice show.

My wife and I stopped buying gifts for each other that are purely materialistic.  Anything we want and that is financially sensible, we usually don't have the patience and just buy it for ourselves then and there.  Now our gifts usually involves some kind of dinner, night out, spa, etc.
