Does anyone have much experience with the Mossberg Patriot that came out last year? I bought one late last year and only able to get it out for a couple hunts.I bought the wood version which is a decent looking rifle I thought the synthetic version looked awful cheap looking.I thought for a wood stock rifle with a fluted barrel and bolt for $400 dollars was worth giving it a shot but you don't hear much about them. I understand they are not a high line rifle but has anyone had much luck with them?

No experience but I went to the site & checked it out. Nice looking rifle W/some attractive features.

Not crazy about the fluted bolt, Just something to catch dirt & make it harder to clean. Other than that, pretty darned nice outfit. I would like to hold one in my hands

I see that all models are the same length regardless of caliber. That being the case I probably wouldn't opt for a 308 length cartridge. Likewise W/the 22" barrel, a magnum wouldn't make much sense either.

Which caliber did you purchase & how does it shoot? I'm a wood guy myself. Did you get walnut or laminated?

I got a walnut in 270 seems to shoot real well. I believe you can get them in some big calibers to I think right up to 375h&h.

I read a lot of good reviews on it to before I bought one I wonder why they don't seem to be very popular I don't know anyone else who has owns one. I know Mossberg is not a huge name as far as rifles they are more known for their shotguns that may have something to do with it.They are priced in the same ballpark as the Ruger American and they are selling like hotcakes ( by the way I love the American I own 2 of them).
