crosswinds and drag lines

Been thinking about using a drag line later in the season but got to thinking if a buck typically walks across the wind smelling the air for estrous does then if the wind is from the west - then shouldn't my drag line run north/south or visa versa so he would cut the trail at some point?

I don't drag all that much n also never go out of my way except the very last little bit around my tree. Want to ensure good angles so I make a slight circle around my stand. Now something to think about. It's best used during the walk stage when does coming into estrous are at a minimum n buck competition at the highest. Also I use the scent very sparingly, I want the buck to sorta smell it so he keeps looking n moving. If you've ever seen a bird dog or beagle first hit a scent they can't exactly find they're very animated n concentrate to find the source. Nothing else matters to them n they aren't looking for danger. It's all the slight scent that gets em this way. Too much scent n especially the does blow up. That puts other deer on alert
