pitweiler
I'm a novice hunter. I'm not super experienced, but I've been in the woods participating in hiking, hunting or camping in addition to hunting. From time to time, I read Internet forum stories written by people who tell tales of killing insane amounts of deer. Some of these stories come from the south where bag limits are much higher than the north, so maybe it's possible. Move come away from those stories with a few thoughts. 1) they're Internet BS, exaggerated or completely fabricated. 2) these people bait the heck out of deer. Like I said, I'm no expert, but I'm not an idiot and I have never seen the amount of deer some of these folks have. I'm sure there are some really good and really lucky hunters that experience these things, but I tend to lean towards 1 or 2. How about you? Gencountyzeek
I don't see tons of deer, define ty saw more probably 10 years ago, but I have averaged taking atleast 2 deer a year since I was 14, I'm 33 now. I shot a doe yesterday, coulda shot another today. Put enough time in the woods and learn from people that have been doing it along time. Also hunting good property helps, they need cover food and water. Find it and u should find deer. I should also say I have always hunted private land. pitweiler
I understand. Im talking about people who claim to shoot 10+ deer a year type of thing. Just seems like a ton.
Gencountyzeek
Well...you get either sex and antler less with bow/ml tag, you get buck tag for gun, 2 dmp tags, u can get 2 more of left overs and you can get a few more signed over to u....so you can get close to ten, I've shot 4 in a season a couple times, but that sounds a little exaggerated to me.
TreeGuy
Between my father and I our best year was 12. Filled all tags and scored a couple of fresh roadkills...
Buckmaster7600
Having hunted down south when I was stationed there I will tell you they are not all internet tails! South Carolina you could kill 2 bucks a day without tags and you could buy unlimited doe tags season starts aug 15 and runs until jan2 you can't kill a does until after sept 1. These laws may have changed now I was down there 5 years ago. I know guys down there that shoot over 50 deer a year. Yes they bait "it's legal" they also run dogs "think rabbit hunting", they have a ton of deer and a big doe only weighs 60lbs. Add those up and guys with good spots to hunt and a lot of time and they can kill a ton of deer. My best year down there was 24 but I worked a full time job and didn't have the best property and hunted on the military bases. I did kill 6 does in 1 night that year and 4 of them were all in the same group.I hated hunting down there because the weather and conditions are terrible but it can be a regular shooting gallery. To truly understand the quantity of deer that are killed down there you have to go to a butcher shop on any given Saturday throughout the season.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
