School me on PA tags

I was just invited to hunt in North Central PA.    How does the tag system work?  Is it similar to ours ?    Bucks / Doe's ??    By unit # ?   I wouldn't even know where to start.

Never hunted down there, but we have quite a few members who do/have that should help you out.

I actually have 1 (just 1), bolt action hunting rifle.

I can't figure out the doe permit system, is it similar to ours ?

A buck tag comes with your hunting license, a doe is purchased through the county treasury via mail in application for specific wildlife management unit areas, which most sell out within first month - July/august. Usually the more urban ares philly / Pittsburgh may have some left and you can purchase at county courthouses

Are doe tags transferable like NYS ?

No, they are not.  the only way to get a doe at this point in the game if you do not have a tag yet is to hunt 2B(Pittsburgh area) or to hunt the late flintlock muzzle loader season in which your buck tag becomes an either sex tag

all kidding aside its a CDW state, correct? So anything that comes back to NY has to be butchered before it gets over the boarder.  Correct?

I just read the guides.   You're correct, it would have to be fully butchered before coming home.   Or I can take the back straps, and filets, and dump the rest in the woods.

From what I read, I couldn't even have it mounted in NY.    I would need to find a PA butcher, and PA taxi.
