bellmorekennels
Took out Pup E , Mandi, and Bella for some exercise this morning, had a decent run lasted about 15 mins before going to a garbage pile. Dogs did ok, were applying a little too much pressure, but got the job done, could of been a little smoother, but had a nice run. firehunter48
how early is to early to start training them??? I have a beagle lab mix (mostly beagle as you can see from the pic) that was born on 12/3/10. she has found a couple in the yard and chases/tracks them but i dont htnink she really knows that she is doing what she is "supposed to be doing"
bellmorekennels
You can start anytime, just do not expect too much. I would not expect anything really to click until around 6 months old, some start earlier, but do not push them, every one is different. Some do not start until almost a year, but if she chasing at 2.5 months old ,she definitley goin in the right direction>>>
16. ga hunter
not to positive on hounds but i like to start as soon as i get them (bird dogs) plus a lot of things are training for field use even if you don't think of it coming to thier name sitting ect just folowing comands ect... started my cocker on scent at about 3 months just very short trails 5 to ten yards then longer as she got more comfortable this was our first bird season together and she did quite well for being less than a year flushing her first bird at 8 months and at least one bird per outing its really something seeing your dog work
Pygmy
Great video, Bellmore.... I was grinning through the whole thing... Who has the distinctive squall, and who has the deep chop..?? GREAT hound work... I LOVE it..!!...
bellmorekennels
Thanks pygmy, the deep chop is PUP E, he was bred and born in my kennel, he is 18 months old, and the squall is Bella, she is almost 3, the guy I got her from sold her because did not like her mouth. I prefer the chop, but as long as they can run a rabbit ,doesnt matter to me.
Robinson446
Makes me wanna get out with the dogs again. Rabbit season is over (if your shooting them) so i jump from rabbit to goose to duck to whatevers next. Still like to take the dogs out to freshin em up though. Your dogs look and sound good, have very good mouths on them. Keep up the good work!
bellmorekennels
Thanks Robinson, break them out and go for a run!! I run them every week execpt the months of may and june, as there are alot of baby rabbits and ticks, the ticks die down once it gets real hot in july. Thanks for watchin the video, will try to get more this upcoming weekend..
