Yes, all I had was pink duct tape.

That pink tape should make it easier to find when in falls off. That's so going to fall off with only that little bit of tape attaching it to pack.

The tape is reinforcing the holes I poked through it. I ran a thick lacrosse sidewall string through it and the pack....

I've read in the past, norther zone hunters and catskill hunters do not have to display back tags. The MUST be in possession but not displayed on center or back.

really? I have a reg book right here. I'll check. The back tag makes zero sense to me. I don't understand it's purpose.

I just found a old post on here in 2010 that addresses it also. The guys back then said the same. 

I don't know if the law has changed though.

From DEC Website: "Back tags must be visibly displayed on the middle of your back while hunting, except in the Northern Zone and Catskill Park."
