I am going to build a shed and it needs to be put up on post. i live in Broome Co. and looking to hire some one with a post hole digger. I need (20) twenty holes drilled, 4 ft deep x 12" ins. I live on top of ridge and there is a lot of stones on the land. I live in the Windsor area. If any one does this kind of work or if you know some one who does this work and wants a job , you can  E- mail me at ([email protected]) and title it (post holes). Any help with this would be appreciated.  Thanks , noodle one

My son needed some holes made a few years ago on some hilly , rocky terrain . He rented a 2 man gas operated post hole digger . We still had to dig because of the large rocks in the grounf . If you have someone to help , the 2 man rig might work for you .

Being a contractor and having tried the machine that was just metioned I advise against it. My finding's have been that the ground around here usually just laughs at that type set up. I usually use a guy out of bloomville  but I don't know if he would go as far as Broome county ?

You make it sound as though its pretty " rocky" where you are located also.

In the right soil the machine that Fast Eddie mentioned do work well.

Noodle,

Just a suggestion, but ask around with some of the local farmers in your area. Most of them all have their own post auger for setting fence posts, you might be able to work something out with one of them before the planting season gets in full swing.

PS: My mom's brother lives in Windsor, I am down that way several times a yr.
