First-light
Ok this has been on my mind for a long time. I'm on Long Island and some people use Bamboo as a natural screen. I often thought about planting some at my camp to see how the deer would react to it. I know it spreads like wild fire and can become a problem. Well today we were working at a house in a wooded section of the North Shore of Long Island. They had a bamboo patch in the back yard. Deer are everywhere in this area so I wanted to see if there were any rubs on the bamboo. I was surprised that there were a bunch rubbed up by the deer. Actually we busted out some bedded doe from the patch. Anyone have any information they can weigh in on. I like the tree but I think it may be impossible to control once established. Jeremy K
My brother in law planted some in his back yard ,he wishes he never did . That stuff is like a weed ,you can't just pull a few shoots out and have no more bamboo ,you're stuck with it til you dig up the whole area. It will take over any where you plant it.
