Using smartphones to view trail cam photos

I saw on another thread that someone mentioned that they use their smartphones to view their trailcam photos without having to remove the sd cards. Can anyone tell me- other than the usb cable, is there anything else I need; like some kind of app?

The only way to do it would be to use a mini SD card with an adapter in the cam, then take it out, turn your phone off, insert the card, boot your phone up, look at the pics, shut the phone off and put the card back in the cam. You cant use the mini-usb port on the phone as an input for a device, so that wont work. Apple has an SD card reader available for iPads, not sure if it works with an iPhone though.

A lot of the Android phones can just unmount their SD card, so cycling the phone isn't needed.

There's also the Eye-Fi SD cards. It's basically an SD card with a wifi adapter built in, and the company has Android/Apple apps for the phones. I've been tossing around trying one out to share non-phone pics quickly while I'm at stage rally races, so I have no first hand experience with them yet.

Almost forgot the link: http://www.eye.fi/
