PSE fang 350 xt help

Friend brought over his crossbow today and was having a hell of a time with it not cocking and the bolt holder? retainer? Googled it and found out there was a recall. Can't find a serial number anywhere on the thing. Took the grip off nothing there. He's contacted PSE. Any help here would be great

I know they had the recall also, i wouldn't mess with that and would go to a pse archery shop.
