Dinsdale
now ya do, my guns are locked while in transit, they all have hard cases and stay locked till I reach where I'm headed, so now you know one and the lady at the WTC WAS arrested for having an unregistered firearm..........it wasnt registered in NY, plain and simple. I've flown from the 4 airports in the area, jfk, lagaurdia(sp) white plains and newark, carrying my guns out to AZ each year, and while carrying the hard cases into the airport at any of them, I didnt get a second looks from any of the cops or TSA people.............cept one TSA guy saying " nice rig" when they opened the case to look at the gun Now they know two. Out of JFK at another airlines I watched a guy who wanted to protest his rights checking in......he may still be there in some small windowless room in the bowels of that place. LOL I've always made out just fine at customs too; most have asked how the hunting was. YMMV

Nomad
Life NRA member here,NYS permit 30 years Utah and Florida permits as well, I'm good in 38 states but not NYC......But then have zero interest in going there again. The thing is in those other 37 states the burden falls upon ME to know and follow their laws of where I can carry, whether I have to tell a cop on a traffic stop and so on . Ford
SO WHEN i DRIVE DOWN THURS TO HUNT FRI ...DO I NEED TO HAVE MY SHOTGUN LOCKED IN A CASE....I'LL BE GOING WESTCHESTER TO NASAU COUNTIES......TO SUFFOLK..... I dont think you can get from Westchester to Suffolk without going throuh NYC...Unless you went the long way and took a ferry...I believe in a case, seperate from ammo, locked in the trunk would be good. wooffer
You will pass through the Bronx & Queens (both part of NYC) when you come down to Long Island. Yes, (unloaded) shotgun and ammo must be locked up seperate or you are engaging in a criminal act. Nice country we live in. p.s. glove box doesn't count as a locked box. wooffer
I grew up in NYC, moved to LI about 10 years ago. I hunted Rocky Point one day this January but didn't see a thing, not even a squirrel. My friend hunted the same day on the other side of the road and only saw one deer. I did see a couple of doe's grazing about 4 miles away from Rocky Point one month before shotgun season. Oh yeh, no rifles, shotgun only in designated areas.
