need a backhoe/bucket tractor?

I have a neighbor, who owns a used backhoe/bucket unloader..hes upgrading and lookin to sell this one..ive used it before, and its way better than a shovel..lol..hes lookin to get 5000 for it..new tires..and the only thing it could use, as far as i see it..is a new set of injectors so on chillier days it will start right up w/o the aid of ether..i can give you info to contact the owner for further info..this is the first shot of advertising, so feel lucky, punks!

Its a 68 ford, model 3550, backhoe is a 700 series(13' reach), 24"&12" buckets come with it, open station(no cab) but it does have a roof, a 6 ft bucket loader on front(width of tractor)..

My preference is older stuff, i.e. cars,equipment, only for ease of my rough mechanical skills..everything new is so cheesily made

I agree. One of these days I want to pick up an old Farmall A or maybe even an H to tinker around with. My dad has an 87 White Farm Boss that is a nice tractor, but is alot tougher to work on than the older ones.

The old Ford 8N was always my favorite for versatily and ease of use. The rear hydraulics and 3 point hitch a full line of accessories can do an awful lot of work around the small farm. My Dad bought his new back in 1950, and he sold it for more than he payed for it. I bought a used one back when we first moved onto the property, worked the hell out of it and finally sold it for more than I payed for it. It takes an incredible amount of severe abuse to destroy them. However, this unit that Pat Rockets is talking about is in a whole different category and is used for a lot different activity than the little 8N would ever be expected to handle. It's kind of hard to find one tractor that does everything, so you have to figure out the particular duty that will be expected. But as far as the comment about preferring the "oldies but goodies", I totally agree.
