How does the duck stamp work ? do you have to basically have a tag for every waterfowl killed or do you just buy one and your good for the season ? HectorBuckBuster Posted March 6, 2012 Share Posted March 6, 2012 Don't buy it now, the Duck Stamp does not expire like a hunting license on Sept 30th. I think a duck stamp expires in June 30 if I remember correctly. So buying one now for the fall you would just be wasting your money. papabear Posted May 14, 2012 Share Posted May 14, 2012 haha thanks guys i knew i sounded dumb but better safe then sorry ! your going to need the stamp come out in June get them at most post office's then in August your going to need the H.I.P. number from D.E.C. you do that on line. and of course you all ready have your hunting lisen's you can only shoot steel bismuth or tungstone most of us use steel shot I use # 2 for ducks and BB for geese winchester you can get them from " ROGERS .
