growalot
Been hunting birds a long time...usually the hens are out and about real early , then come 9-10 they disappear...and some times...the guys are out about looking around...usually Jakes for me...but this year the hens are showing up at 9:30 and single hens meander around the woods in and out until 11a.m eating...stopping to preen them selves...just fluffing up and sitting around watching the woods...and not a peep out of them?!...The camp next doors previous owners were in the turkey federation...had wanted/reward signs up and planted a grass and wild oats...that have since filled in on our place...the hens are eating the seed heads of the grass/grain?...I'll have to get pics...not sure what it is..but this seems unusual to me... bubba
actually I am not seeing much for hens, but between 10 and noon seeing gobblers moving around. I can not get one close enough yet to shoot, but I will keep trying. I put out hen and jake decoys this morning and they acted like they were not even there. I think I need to leave the new shotgun at home and break out the muzzleloading one. Edited May 5, 2012 by bubba
