Santamour123
Anyone have anything to say about berer VLD bullets on deer. They look impresive at a distance. But I am looking for som reasurance at close rangle on a smaller whitetail. I worried aboutthem pinholeing. Any info
Lawdwaz
I've killed only one deer with the Berger VLD. 6.5mm 100 grain? I forget what grain weight and I'm way too tired to go down to the basement & check. It worked fine, expansion was more than adequate. About 200 yards out of my XP 100R. Mine were the hunting version. John Barsness (writer & author) shot a pile of game with them in Australia or New Zealand and had terrific results. Expansion tends to be greater at higher velocities.. Actually, I suspect that most reports of "pinholing" involve animals that are marginally hit and not recovered... It's sort of a problem that doesn't exist...

Pygmy
Nice setup, ... It's not so very different from the way I shot it... I kiiled 3 deer with it resting over big round hay bales and 2 laying flat on my belly on the ground, all with the bipod... I shot only one in the woods resting against a tree, and she was only 20 yards away. The others were from 100-225 yards.
