  1. I want a single ladder stand for a pc i may hunt i see these singleman ladder stands that have the ratchet jaw at the top how well do these work ? is there a size limit on the dia of the tree it will work on ?
  2. Do you keep sent wafers in the totes And what if they are wet
  3. I have a few different outfits , a black coverall I wear in my ground blind , camo bibs and jacket in my stands. I keep them in my basement in a plastic storage hanging bag with the earth sent wafers . But…. Once the seasons start I usually keep them in the back of my Jeep. I hate spraying them right before putting them on with sent cover . What do you guys do if anything ?
  4. Agree , I’m seeing bucks at night but NO rubs or scrapes , and no activity on my lock scrape
  5. No it’s not a NY law , it’s an idiotic liberal Walmart law I guess
  6. Because if it’s for a handgun they need to see your pistol license. I bought 38s and they asked me too. No I do have a rifle that shoots 38s too… Another liberal idiotic law
  7. So I was at Walmart today getting second chance doe tags .. Guy in-line said “ the extended season weeks you can use all left over tags AND you can hunt bow, crossbow, muzzloader ,shotgun and rifle “ Thats not how I understood it .. I thought you could use all left over tags but only bow , crossbow , ML. Am I right ? Also he said you could use the two muzzleloader tags during regular gun IF hunting with a ML Again…. I don’t believe that
  8. Well I understand it’s not the correct way to do it but .. as far as back feeding to the transformer , if you forget to shut the main off the generator dies right down trying to feed that line. Also , the article is misleading , modern generators have circuit breakers of there own . If you load them too much , the engine dies right down and the breaker will trip long before the cord running to the panel starts on fire . I have a 10 gage 4 wire Ext cord , generator cord are always outdoors. Its no different then if I had a transfer switch .. Turning off the main is always the first and last thing do and check before starting the generator
  9. What ?? Never heard off that before . Ive done it for years …never an issue . It’s still going thru the panel , no different than incoming power ??? Brother was a fireman and electrician and his set up is the same . Shutting off the main isolates the power to the buss bars and thru the breakers Cant imagine any way it could start a fire
  10. Yea my generator is a wheeL around and I too keep it full and stabilized ! I also haven’t used it much but when I did it was for a day or so. I just dropped a 220 outlet out of my panel , shut off the main , back feed the entire house . It runs the furnace , central ac , fridges , lights etc
  11. Ouch we don’t have a cock but I have a utility pump set on the lowest spot and it’s automatic . I also have a WiFi water alarm set on the lowest spot. And wireless thermostats on freezer and fridge. I have a portable generator and hook up to run the whole house. And a 16 gallon shop vac My utility pump has a short hose that I put into the sump for my pump up basement shower. That goes right into the soil pipe
  12. 35 yrs and barley an issue , now with 3.6” of rain the other day I have water seepage and spent hours shop vaccuming it up. We don’t have a sump pump or a crock now it’s raining again pretty hard . I just got it dried up ! How the hell do people deal with this ? I really want to move someplace on a hill or to a place without a basement ,
  13. Yea I’m a meat hunter , if I get one doe that’s all the meat I need for a season But …. If I see this bad boy and I’m in the stand , I’m letting one fly The smaller one came out first Then Bubba ! First and only ever sighting
  14. Lots of does as usual , bucks mostly at night
  15. You mean the plan of buying modern ranch then separate hunting land ?
  16. Wife is retired , I’m almost there , no kids , home in the village on a 1/2 acre Nice older ranch but very nice shape . Lived here 30 years.. I want to move either to a more modern newer ranch but with an acre or two or try and find land with a home , wooded , hunting land , like 40’acres etc But I want to keep the style home a ranch. I know prices are crazy now but we will be able to sell ours easy and get a good price. My thinking is buy a modern ranch home in a nice neighborhood that has water , sewer , gas , cable etc but is on a big semi private lot . That way if I croak my wife wouldn’t be stuck out in the boondocks alone and would be able to stay put. Then I would buy a hunting camp with some land near us ( fingerlakes area )that she could just sell off if I die .
  17. Yea I hear ya. last year I dragged a big doe out of a gully about a half mile alone .. Im 62 and it wasn’t easy . Using a 4 wheeler from now on
  18. Humm , I guess I’m weird , i prefer hunting alone
