  1. Lord knows how many archers have and still do suffer from "TP". I have in the past, and am hopefully in "remission" now. What helped me, as some of the guys have stated is blank bale shooting. It works... what the eyes don't see, doesn't translate into brain/finger panic. I might also add that shortening one's release so that the trigger finger (if using a trigger release), is pointed 90 degrees down to the ground, with the trigger in the 2nd index finger joint...not the tip of the finger, might also be advantageous. Here's the most important tip... don't pull the trigger, rather compress your back muscles, which in turn will shift the release arm rearward, and in doing so release an arrow. Bare in mind that the bow hand, MUST remain loose, quiet, no flinching, no dropping, no torqueing. Practice this on a blank bale, eyes closed. It will help your TP and your overall accuracy. Be safe.
  2. Abusing the "joy" of archery, is no different than any other "OCD". Yes, drawing, anchoring & a clean follow thru is a "trip", but the joy can quickly turn to a nightmare. A frozen shoulder can and does happen, i know because it happened to me. Undergoing physical therapy 2X per week for 8 weeks is no joy, but the options i had were 3 years to unfreeze doing nothing, or surgery. To me, 3 years could be a lifetime. I'm back, enjoying it as much as ever, not to exceed 4X/wk., and never out of sight of "mr.allen key" if needed.
  3. Thank you "BurmJohn", and all the sportsmen who make huntingny.com, the best NYS hunting forum, and the sport of bowhunting so exciteing and challenging. We designed this facility to increase the success rate for bowhunters in the woods, while at the same time making it both fun and challenging. Thrill Of The Hunt can be somewhat intimidating the first time, but as the stations progressed, and the "hunters" started to relax, and the form returned, their arrows started to find their predetermined spot. It was indeed a pleasure for Marilyn and myself to host the first huntingny.com field trip, and look forward to a repeat event later in the year, prior to the hunting season. Thank you all for your support, and for strengthening the "Brotherhood Of The Bow"
  4. THRILL OF THE HUNT was a concept developed by me, only after much discussion with bowhunters i was fortunate enough to meet at a Peconic Sportsman's outdoor 3d shoot, winter 2010. The comraderie that appeared to flow between the guys, the hunting stories, and the high tech equipment they used, intrigued me to the point that a new concept took form. I want everyone to realize that YOU ALL are responsible for what today is THRILL OF THE HUNT. Without your encouragement, committment to the sport, and support, we don't exist. Marilyn and I want to say thanks to the over 300 registered shooters who've visited with us these past 12 months. It is an honor and a priveledge to be part of an elite band of men and women, who not only talk the talk, but walk the walk,... in the woods, in the rain, in a tree, in a blind, whenever, wherever it takes them; inorder to continue America's legacy of "the hunt". We continue to change, as do the woods,... because in nature, to be stagnant, is to die. Thank you.
  5. I'm impressed with the tracer Nock System. It's capable of 2 modes....active & inactive. In the active mode, which seems correct for the entire hunting system, once activated, anytime your arrow passes thru the rest, within 1" of the magnet attached to the riser, the tracer lights solid. Ten seconds later it starts to blink, and stays blinking. After retrival, just pass the nock end of the arrow within 1" of the magnet and it turns off. Easton claims a 90 hour battery life. Only more time and uasge will back that statement up. At the conclusion of hunting season, you again pass the nock end of the arrow past the magnet, and hold for a certain number of flashes and the system becomes deactivated. Pretty cool. Yet, "the proof of the pudding is in the taste", and only a hunting season with a broad assessment of the product will attest to its reliability and overall performance.

  7. The SHOTGUN SEASON for Long Island White Tails commences January 1, 2012. Included for the first time within the shotgun season are "crossbows". Hunter safety and game conservation are our #1 priorities; this being said... we believe it to be responsible of us to offer the THRILL OF THE HUNT "experience" to those who shoot the crossbow. We also realize that the mixing of vertical & crossbow, based on safety concerns is a "no-no"; therefore, we have decided to dedicate Saturday mornings, 9am--noon, for the months of October 2011 thru December 31, 2011, as the official OPEN CROSSBOW SESSION. Fee for the OPEN CROSSBOW SESSION is $30.00 per 30 target round, field points only. RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED! Those who show-up without reservations, may not be afforded range time. Reserve early, call Art @ (631)566-5261 or email: [email protected]

  10. Remember playing "horse" as a kid? You make a basketball shot and everyone has to replicate the "exact shot from the exact spot,...OR gain a letter, eventually spelling the word "horse" and you're then eliminated. The last standing shooter at the end... WINS!! Welcome to "ARROWS". 30 arrows maximum*... from unmarked distances...from anywhere in the arena...NO RF ALLOWED! $12.00 per week... (instant winner each week wins a useful prize.) No pre-entry...just show-up Fri pm. and you're in!! *NOTE: Elimination can happen prior to shooting 30 arrows, if and when the word "arrows" is achieved. If the lead-off shooter scores an 8, each successive shooter needs an 8 or better to avoid gaining a letter. It's fun, challenging, and a great way to spend a Friday evening. The most fun $12.00 can buy in this CRAZY FREEKY world! Visit us at: www.indoor3d.com Directions: Long Island Expressway (Route 495) to Exit 72. Take Route 25West, Calverton Ramp. Turn Right at traffic light (Manor Road). Turn left on Middle Road. Turn Left on Deep Hole Road. Go 6/10 mile and turn into driveway by Big Buffalo. Pass the house and the barn and turn right to THRILL OF THE HUNT.
