  1. Just got off the phone with him and he had a great story to share. But before I pass it along, he invited me over after work to see it in person. Picking it up from the butcher today. Dropping off to the taxi tomorrow. He has more photos to share and I will be taking pics of my own. Hope the pics will do it justice. I will share with everyone that he shot it with his muzzleloader.
  2. He just called and left me a voicemail message. I will be calling him back during my lunch break. What would you all like to know about this brute?

    The Luck

    He should of shot him,lol
  4. Frustrating. I did not hunt the lease opening day, but my buddy did. He heard 5 shots that sounded close and went to investigate. Headed up the field to our north property line when a guy jumps out of the woods yelling, "I got it, I got it". Young guy had put a stand close to the line and shot a button buck that he saw on our side of the line. All our lines are clearly posted with phone numbers. He got out of the stand and crossed the line to get the deer. Openly admitted to doing all of this. It was his first time out hunting and he was super excited about his success. My buddy spoke to him about firing into our property and trespassing, the kid replied that he really didn't do anything wrong. It went from warning him to calling the DEC...he had not intention of calling, but the attitude the kid had changed his mind. He waited a day to call because he knew they would be busy Saturday. To sum it up, officer said that the State owns the deer. If he shot from your side of the property then it would be different. You do not have enough property to do QDM. What? You're saying you can shoot across property lines at state owned deer? Hunters are tired of calling to report poaching to the NYSDEC and other violations....Only to be dismissed by some officer that can't be bothered. It's getting ugly. This eco just transferred and Saturday was his first day in this county. We'll see how it goes.
  5. Family did ok opening weekend. My cousins daughter (17yrs) got her first deer at 8am Saturday...nice 9pt. She got a doe on Sunday, too. I have passed on some small bucks; others have not.
  6. Colton Palmer shot this buck in Orleans county. He shared part of his hunt with me on NY Hunt Club facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=606558439406166&set=o.154187968001811&type=1&theater
  7. Webster is 8F for anyone looking.
  8. Was it shot near Webster Park or any of the other parks around here? Been hearing about a big one spotted near the campground.
  9. Your lease seems to suffer from trespassers and Too many yotes. The hunter you saw was most likely walking through to push deer to the adjacent property. If that is the case, he will do it again since he had results...ie., shooting/deer. Not sure what your deer herd is like but the coyotes will pick the fawns off in the spring. Shoot the devil dogs and find a fur buyer. Many buyers will take the entire carcass if you do not know how to skin them well. Good luck.
  10. Pop-up blinds are basically a tent. Deer go by them too.
  11. Nice, no scent clothes and well oiled guns! Ever smell your shells before they are even fired?

  13. I use this one. Helps greatly.... http://trackingdogsupply.com/deer-hair-chart-for-hunters-and-blood-trackers.html
  14. Say what? 1. You should have gotten a hunting pre-nump! 2. You don't plan to go out....you just go out. 3. No need to buy her something...you tag a deer and be a provide for her. Hard for her to argue when you are simply acting as man has acted for thousands of years. Plus, you hold the gun if she is that scary, lol!
  15. That sucks, but I will shoot 2 tomorrow....1 for each of us.
  16. I already got a decent buck during bow, so I am not going to hesitate to let the bodies hit the floor on any good sized does. 8F is thick with deer. My freezer will be, too!
  17. Hell yeah, I will. She can lay there for a few if it is nice and cool. I'll keep sitting in my spot and wait for another.
  18. I try to spread it around and share the hunting excitement with everyone. Wife really tries hard not to let her guard down. Guys at work don't hunt...just pop'em in the @ss for the hell of it.
  19. I got G()D damn ants in my pants...knee is bouncing up and down....keep rubbing my hands together in anticipation of opening morning. Wife and co-workers are tolerating my sudden outbursts, pounding on the desk...hoots & hollers of "shotgun season!" outbursts and @ss slappin' taunts. By Friday night, I will be emotionally drained and crash. Maybe 3-4hrs of sleep if lucky. 45min drive to cousins place. We'll sit till maybe 10am. When we walkout and his house comes into view; we will see an army of orange waiting in his driveway/yard. Then onto the big swamp to put on a drive. Good times had by all.
  20. Could be the neighbor tagged him since then, too.
  21. Read this thread for the first time, just now. I am glad that you were able to follow up the track and get some resolution on this buck. I am sorry that you were disappointed with Deer Search. We had @25 tracking calls that came in Friday night & Saturday morning. I took 2 tracking calls Saturday and found one buck. Others members were out tracking, too and more calls came in all day. We get a flood of calls like that and we know the rut is in full swing. However, Just too few of us trackers to keep up with the demand of calls. We try to call everyone back but it is not always as timely as one would like when you have a deer wounded. We want to talk to the hunter and get details. This helps us decide which calls to take...get a better idea as to which deer are recoverable or still alive. A shoulder shot with no pass thru and 1 lung....not a good call. A misplaced arrow a little far back....dead deer that should be recoverable. I only took the 2 calls I went on because I already tagged a nice buck in October...or I Would of been hunting.
  22. I have a cousin 40yrs old. He gets so amped up that he vomits every year on morning of gun opener. Like a rock singer before going on stage. Hell of a hunter after he's done and sun comes up to start the season.
  23. Wish today was the opener with the snow on the ground. It would of been insane....
  24. I'm so fed up with rubber boots lasting less than a season. Bought Lacrosse first week of August...left one has a tear/hole as of last week. I should have bought another pair of Cabela's brand. They replaced a pair after less than a years use. Then replaced the second pair. BUT, they only go up to size 14. I was able to get Lacrosse in size 15 for a good price. Garbage. Lacrosse boots are not the same as the good ole USA made olive green boot with yellow ring around the top; they "Chinad" them up. I'm sticking with muck and Cabelas, one size too small and lifetime warranty.
