i am still waiting. Why did all you gun hunters push back so hard for the youth hunt being the 2 days before reg season but pushed really really hard for it to be columbus weekend? Anyone?

And if you are defending the youth hunt and it is all about the youth then why did the dec get such strong backlash when they wanted to make the youth hunt the 2 days before reg season? Not one person has answered that yet............. And please dont tell me because it might be cold on those days because we are still in hysterics about that one..........

Another guy who clearly wants to get his kids out of his hair and does not want to be bothered by them on opening day.

nov 10th and 11th they might be the best days anyway this yr unless it is 70 degrees

Dont waste your time Doc, It is so transparent that the guy does not want his kids ruining his opening day so he needs the SPECIAL youth hunt to get them out of his hair. If that was not the truth these humps would not have complained so much about the youth hunt being sat and sun and moving the reg season to Mon. And remember what there excuse was, " It maybe to cold for them" "you cant make this shit up"

There is no statistic around that could prove the youth hunt added a new hunter. Please " you cant make this shit up"

I am so sick of hearing " look at the other states that have similiar programs" this is not ohio or iowa or etc etc this is NY state. We dont have trophy deer all over the place like those states do.

Call them up and they will tell you exactly what is happening believe it or not. As for the news going live with a youth hunt, they screwed up like everyone else did. The Dec did screw this up, they should have been crystal clear on what was going on. But to tell you all the truth, they dont care, there is no fallback on this. Who cares if there is no youth hunt, the majority of people are against it. If there is a 14 or 15 yr old crying about this, then guess what, take them with you on opening day..............................

It depends on where you are putting them. Over a food source one week is plenty this time of year, Over a trail I would leave it for a month............

I just talked to a DEC officer and he said there was no youth hunt and that someone was looking at the proposed shcedule and pasted that to all the sites causing all the confusion. I just wen on the dec website and there is no youth hunt in the 2012 season. I have no idea what to believe.

Yea it is a little dangerous on opening day but it is very dangerous for other people such as kids playing in the woods, hikers, people scouting, small game hunters, etc etc etc. People for the most part know to stay out of the woods during late november now you want them to stay out of the woods in october too. Enough is enough with for the kids. Whats next? I love my kids as much as the next person but in this case they will be brought up just as I was and I did not need a special weekend to get my ass in the woods................................................

I agree with you growsalot. I thought it was ridiculous to have a special weekend wether it was in oct or in nov before the reg season. Bring your kids on opening day no need for a special weekend.

youth was shot down because of the danger of it taking place in october not because of it breaking up archery season.

the hold up is they tried to pass everything together. Now there is alot more paperwork and adendems that have to be done. Last i heard nothing was gonna go through until next year but I am not sure. I thought it had to be done by last friday for it to go through this year. It is getting late.

youth hunt was shot down weeks ago. They said if there was gonna be youth hunt it would be archery only.

Why Is everyone having so much trouble reading. Early ml is only in a few areas. It does not even apply to most of the state so stop sweating it. And someone mentioned that the dec is setting up for a longer reg season down the road. That will never happen. Trust me.

There giving us oct 1st so we dont cry about early mls and youth hunt in the middle of oct. I sayforget that. I dont need to be in the woods that early in exchange for that.
