  1. I believe Sportsmans Guide still sells the ammo. At least it was still on their site yesterday.
  2. Thanks, Grow. I'll have to check that out. Hunt, this isn't the first time. I got a ticket one time for driving a car someone else was driving. It took the geniuses in the court a year before they finally figured out that it was impossible for 2 people to drive the same car at the same time!
  3. After months, and months of going to court on BS charges, I have finally emerged victorious! I was scheduled for a trial on traffic tickets tonight. These tickets were for no insurance (I had insurance-got a ticket anyway), failure to update my new address on my drivers license (wrong again-my drivers abstract proved I submitted my info), and driving with a suspended registration (this suspension was actually rescinded-it was a screw up on the part of the insurance company). The final result was failure to prosecute, case dismissed. The problem, of course, was that my car was impounded ($700 to get it), I lost my job, and had to put out a lot of money for a rental car. It wiped me right out. Talk about a bittersweet victory! I just wish I knew how to recoup these losses.
  4. It would seem, according to what I read about her observance, that mental illness was pretty much null and void. This kid knew exactly what he was doing, and planned it out over time. Some of the worst serial killers in history had no mental illness issues, which is why they got the death penalty instead of the insane asylum. As a father of a son who is Fragile X Syndrome, I take offense to the broadness of the "mentally ill" blame game. He can't even conceive what day it is, let alone plan out an attack. Years ago, at worked as a therapy aide at Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center (it is now closed). Were some of them violent? You better believe it! What they were unable to do, however, was formulate a well rounded plan, and, in fact, it was usually an outburst with no rhyme or reason, and, quite frankly, a well rounded plan wouldn't even come into play in their mind.
  5. I've had numerous threads moved. Never gave it any thought. Hell, at least they're on the forum. That's good enough for me.
  6. Absolutely, positively, nothing. Worst season I've had in the last 15 seasons. Think I'll just stick with small game from now on. Ironically, I actually have always enjoyed small game more anyway!
  7. The most prolific serial killers in U.S. history never used a gun. The Green River killer being a prime example.
  8. I agree. I don't have a damned clue where the sentences end, or begin.
  9. And, by the way, you couldn't touch a run down cottage down here for the prices you state. It's a whole different world when it comes to that.
  10. Economics 101. If the price of land goes up, so does the tax rate.East Hook Rod & Gun (which I'm not a member of), had their land since the club started. They're another club that is old. They bought the land when the club was established. The tax rate got so high, that they had to sell their land, and buy property where the taxes weren't so high. Price is relevant-at least down here.
  11. Wow! Even Mass. has it? Boy, we're behind the eight ball here!
  12. All of these animals were taken with big bore airguns. http://www.americanairgunhunter.com/big_game_gallery.html
  13. Neither would I. The big bores push much more foot pounds. Missouri hasn't had any issues with their use of big bores for deer. In fact, they've been very effective at harvesting deer.
  14. The price per acre of land, down here, on average, is $150,000. In Livingston County, it averages anywhere from $2000-$3000 per acre. That's a HUGE difference.
  15. Actually, the airguns of today are quite capable of taking deer. The custom made ones are extremely powerful. Even some of the stock .45's, and .50's are quite capable.
  16. HAHAHA! You mean the man who invented the internet?
  17. Hell-you remember what it used to look like between 52, and 9? You know-where Merritt Blvd is. What is that-like 1 and a half-2 miles of condos they built there? What a damned eyesore. I used to hunt up on Brooks property-you could look down, and see nothing but woods. Today, you look down, and see nothing but condos. The banks along the creek are eroding like crazy there to, since they took all the shoreline trees out on that one side.

    Slow retrieve Rebel Hellgrammite?
  19. I agree 100%. The airguns of today are powerful as hell.
  20. Actually, yes. While I don't know just how many people are pushing for this, I do know that at least one member of the NYSCC is pushing for it. In highly populated suburban areas, at least in my opinion, this could be ideal. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
  21. Rabbit droppings? Are they round?
  22. Actually, I passed up a buck this morning, because it was 5 minutes before legal shooting light. Not worth the aggravation to me. Having said that, there is one thing that has always baffled me. There is no 500 foot restriction on waterfowl hunting, and yet there is on everything else-including hunting with an airgun.
  23. You may be right. When me, and a couple of old Army buddies hunted in Fishkill, our stands were being sabotaged. We found out that it was anti hunters who lived in a complex on the outside of the property. We finally caught them trespassing, and dealt with it.
  24. Doc, I agree 100%. Not only has the tax base gone through the roof here, but the impact on hunting has been devastating. Ironically, down here, the residents tend to voice their opinions against the excessive development. It does no good, though, because the town boards do what they want.
  25. Land here is at $150,000 an acre. Who can afford to buy that? The cottage I live in, must have cost all of about 8 trees. I'm not completely anti development. I just think there needs to be a balance. The old school developers went by a balance. The ones now don't. They just wipe everything out, including wetlands. Even the DEC has held meetings with the towns, trying to convince them to cluster, with no success.
