So much for that-wind picking back up again.......
-
Sounds good to me!
-
It's currently at 12mph, with wind gusts of 23mph. I'm definitely not going to take that for granted, though!
-
Hanging in there in Poughkeepsie! So far, so good!
-
Good shootin! You've got to hook up with us sometime when we go on our airgun hunts.
-
I don't hunt waterfowl, but I do hunt turkey, and it definitely sounds like you should upgrade to at least a full choke. Not enough concentrated shot.
-
Sorry, not hunting related but the sickest &$#* I've read
13BVET replied to Elmo's topic in General Chit Chat
Yep. Makes you wonder sometimes. They're always watching us, but who the hell is watching them???? -
I haven't observed any chasing, or anything else, for that matter, down here in Dutchess. Dead quiet.
-
Hi, guys! Just so everyone knows, I gave the 3G doe tag to an old timer.
-
That sucks! Have you tried the other DEP properties we went squirrel hunting on?
-
I just realized the same thing. Red deer have antlers like elk. It has to be a fallow.
-
Red Stag?

I owe a lot to these three. Elmo, and Shawn Hu, actually thought of the troubling times I'm going through, instead of themselves. They're kick a$$, and I'm proud to call them my friends, and fellow hunters. When they brought back Elmo's tree stand, they actually thought of my needing a sight, and arrow rest for my bow-although I never asked them to, and they sacrificed what they could have gotten, and got me these items. You guys are fantastic, and I've been shooting like crazy, and she's dead nuts at 25 yards. Biz-R, your sending me a doe permit for 3N last season, and that was a great thing to do. Just the fact that you were willing to help someone you didn't know, was fantastic. If you don't need one of those 3N's this year, I could definitely use it, as I could at least hunt the DEP property (just going on your offer in the other thread). These guys went out of their way to help me, and I just wanted to say thank you. THANKS, GUYS!!!!!

Elmo-are you at Stewart, by any chance?
-
Elmo, I understand the concern, buddy. It's probably a little foolish on my part, but I do trust the people on this site. It's actually just a general outlay, as there is more than one house here. Thanks for the info on the map saving! We gotta get outand do some more hunting soon. I heard you got a pheasant at Stewart......
-
Can someone please explain how to upload just a portion of the map?
-
It's funny. I was actually leery about it also. I've found, however, that all my neighbors shoot coyotes, and squirrels right in their back yard. There is also hunting going on across the stream. I had called a DEC officer yesterday, and asked his opinion, and he actually said that he would hunt it-just let the neighbors know-which I did. Very hard decision right now, with losing my other spot......
-
This is a patch of woods behind my house. I see deer constantly. The question is, would you hunt this spot? It goes back to the stream, and is in between houses. What are your thoughts on this? I don't know how to save a portion of the Mapqwest map, but the address is 518 Creek Road, Poughkeepsie, NY. Only Mapqwest has the correct address.

Guys, my deepest apologies. What I wrote, was not quite worded right, obviously. It certainly was NOT an insinuation that anyone did anything wrong. It pretty much goes back to a situation where a friend of mine took a deer, in the woods, and, yes-it was darker in the woods, than in the adjoining field. He was stopped by DEC-he was dragging it out after sunset-and the DEC officer asked when he got it. When he said "It was just getting dark in the woods", he was ticketed, even though he had shot it during legal shooting time. The officer assumed that it was taken after legal shooting time, only because of that statement. That's all I was trying to say. As for the watch thing, I was actually asked about not having a watch on, by ENCON (I had left it in the car by mistake), because he stated there was no way I could tell when sunset would be without one. I actually have two friends who got tickets for "hunting after legal hours", simply because they exited the woods mere minutes after sunset. The officer stated that "you have to be out of the woods by sunset".

That's pretty strange. I was actually working at Wal Mart in Fishkill at the time, in sporting goods, and we were told to pull it. Of course, I note how you stated that it flew off the shelves.........
-
Wow! There was literally a corn field, and you still got hit with a baiting charge??? That doesn't make any sense!
-
True. I have nothing to lose by trying. As we all know-the timing couldn't be worse! This is something I'd rather have found out when I called before the season.
-
Ironically, the stores are actually not supposed to sell those items in New York. When they first passed the laws forbidding "baiting" or "feeding", there was a memo instructing the stores to take it off the shelves. Wal Mart actually pulled it under the new guidelines, along with other stores. Wonder how they're able to sell it again?
-
BigGame, that's not a bad idea. Thanks for the info.

Thanks, Ants. It does suck. Thanks to everyone else for not being asinine about it-with the exception of one.
