  1. Absolutely dead where I hunt in Millbrook. Seen one deer in 5 sits.
  2. Hell-I wish I could get just one! This is a horrible season for me.
  3. The first buck I see, and get a shot at, I shoot low. I've always had a problem with using a bead with slugs, and for the life of me, I can't figure out why! Any suggestions?
  4. Change your timeframes. Try sitting through the midday hours. Sometimes deer get kicked to you when hunters leave the woods for lunch. Also, I've noticed that after the first week, pressure tends to drop off. I took my deer late in the season last year. It wasn't big, but, nonetheless, my persistence paid off.
  5. Same here-no deer yet. Hopefully soon!
  6. Went up to Millbrook this afternoon-saw all kinds of deer feeding in the yards. No bucks that I could see. I get home, and lo, & behold, the bucks are running the does. Late rut??
  7. Doesn't surprise me in the least. I had worked at Wal Mart, and Dicks in sporting goods. It's amazing the insanity you run into. I had people wanting to buy guns that didn't know what ammo they took, or, for that matter, how they functioned, or where the ammo was loaded into the gun. I remember when I had these two guys come in looking for "smoothbore slugs". I told them that they needed rifled slugs, which were designed for smoothbore barrels. They acted like I had two heads, saying that rifled slugs were not what they needed, and swore up hill, and down, that they had to specifically use "smoothbore slugs". Needless to say, there was no explaining it to them.
  8. What a lousy opening day. Turned me right off to going out this morning. It had nothing to do with not seeing deer-that's hunting. What it did have to do with, was noise. The idiots on the road down below, decided to kick up the chainsaws, and wood chippers, at 7:50 in the morning! It lasted all damned day. They had left the wood chipper there, which meant they would obviously be back this morning. The noise was literally deafening, and there was no question it affected deer movement. Not going to waste my time on that!
  9. I have a full box (72 pellets), of White Hots, and 48 pellets (24-100grain shots), of Jim Shockey Gold. .50. Make offer. 845-849-2742.
  10. Nah-you don't want to bomb them. We had a deer enter the impact area up at Ft. Drum, while we were doing direct fire with our 105's-there's not much left to salvage at that point. This thing ran right in front of a target just when we pulled the lanyard. The 105 decimated it!
  11. Yep. Nothing like looking at your watch, waiting for "sunrise", and just watching the deer go past. Had that happen to me last season. Had 3 bucks come out into the field-they were tailing five does. By the time it was legal shooting light, they were up over the hill getting hammered by other hunters.
  12. The anti hunting lowlifes have sent this guy death threats, and everything else. http://www.mail.com/news/us/1706648-mexico-coyote-hunting-contest-sparks-protests.html
  13. Hostess is done, and 18,500 jobs with it. http://www.nbcdfw.com/news/national-international/NATL-Twinkies-Maker-Hostess-Going-Out-of-Business-179643161.html
  14. Never tried the Bowtech. Some of the Martins look nice also.
  15. I've always had a fetish for Parkers.
  16. I don't understand why people do this kind of crap. Years ago, you respected other hunters' property. It was as if there was a "code of honor" between hunters back then. Makes you wonder what's going on in the mind of some of todays hunters.
  17. I just don't understand it. I haven't seen anything during the day behind where I live. There's tons of sign, but no deer. I've seen a hell of a lot of squirrels lately, though. I might be better off hunting them! It's just been dead here.
  18. Thanks, Doe! I really appreciate it! Does he have my number?
  19. When you post in sporting goods with these, you want to put in a format that's not obvious. In other words, instead of putting "Traditions Thunderbolt Muzzleloader", I put "Traditions T-Bolt BP". If it's not overly obvious, it won't get flagged.
  20. I'm trying to get $100 for it. You have to post on Craigslist in code.
  21. Traditions Thunderbolt, .50 black powder, bolt action, 1 in 28 twist.
  22. I have a Traditions Thunderbolt .50 in pretty damn good shape. I want to sell it on Craigslist, but don't have a clue what a good price would be. Any ideas?
