  1. By the way, like someone mentioned, I wish there were areas for comment.
  2. Okay, so I took the survey. What, exactly, will this accomplish? Needless to say, my answers were overwhelmingly negative (not that the DEC cares).
  3. Has anyone else seen these? Walmart has them for $179, and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this shotgun. It is either going to be one of these, or the Mossberg 500 in .410, for the wife. Any info would be great.
  4. Loss of a great man, who honestly believed in the Constitution, and stood his ground, no matter what the liberal loons thought. I hope that we don't get another liberal nutcase on the SC. Our country is already in the toilet!
  5. I sure as hell would. The Feds are clearly out of control, and are NEVER held accountable. Ruby Ridge, Waco, and Fast & Furious, all resulted in the deaths of innocents. How many Fed agents were arrested for these atrocities? ZERO!
  6. There's not that many farms left in Dutchess. Years ago, there were 500 farms in Dutchess. Today, there are probably about 60. The high cost of living, and excessive taxes, have driven a lot of them out. Development, of course, is another factor. The only place I can come up with, that might be a viable area for this, would be Salt Point.
  7. Interesting how the DEC all of a sudden has an interest in Dutchess, although they've done absolutely nothing to help bird species like the Ruffed Grouse in this area. The fact of the matter, is that it may be too little, too late. The Ruffed Grouse is gone from this area, along with a lot of other species, due to excessive development. The southwestern portion of Dutchess is shot. Although the eastern portion does have somewhat more woods, finding 1500 successive acres would be a challenge itself. With the exception of northern Dutchess, that's going to be a major task.
  8. That is most certainly your choice. Not everyone will see eye to eye on everything. I understand that.
  9. We've got maybe half an inch so far here. Nowhere near what they claimed we were going to get.
  10. And you definitely have a right to your opinion. Having said that, we also have to remember that many hunters don't believe that crossbows, in line muzzleloaders, compound bows, rifled shotgun barrels, and the list goes on and on, shouldn't be used for deer either. I still remember when the compound first came out, as to how many hunters thought it had no place in bow hunting. Times have changed, and so have the implements capable of hunting. Hell, I know guys who think the crossbow has no business in any season. Actually, big bore air rifles have been used very successfully in states that they have been legal in for years now. Now, I can certainly understand your concerns about the shortcomings of air rifles, but they can also be modified to gain much more power.
  11. This is interesting. It would appear that air rifles were also used at Culp's Hill, during the Civil War. http://civilwartalk.com/threads/air-rifles.19144/
  12. He acts like a wannabe tough guy. If he wants to debate, that's one thing. Spouting off is another.
  13. So what if I am? What about it? Are you aware, that the Sam Yang .45 air rifle was used in Iraq? Never mind, my guess is that you haven't been anywhere remotely close to wearing the boots. Been there, done that.
  14. 36 years of hunting in the suburbs for me. I was born, and raised here, and watched it go from a very hunter friendly area, to an urban cesspool. It is virtually impossible to get 500 feet from a dwelling, and the people moving up from NYC, and Westchester, are not pro hunting, or pro gun. If you shoot, or are seen carrying a gun to your hunting area, there's a 100% chance that the cops will be called on you. You will also be called a "murderer", by the douchebags riding by in their cars, because you hunt. It's a whole different ballgame down here.
  15. Yeah, I would think a Daisy Red Ryder would be a little extreme for hunting deer.
  16. The bow was sold to someone on Craigslist.
  17. The bow was just bought last year, in February of 2015, and I live in Dutchess County, in Beacon.
  18. Actually, I think I'm going to drop the price to $130. There's actually a couple of reasons for me doing this, which I'm not really going to get into. I'll just say that it's to help the family.
  19. This is an interesting video of big bore airgun hunting, using helium. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aB4VvvuSPcg
  20. ShawnHu, did you see the vid where he used helium instead of compressed air? Those damned bullets decimated the hogs!
  21. Oh, yeah! Bob Vogel. The man makes, and markets bullets specifically for airguns. He owns some powerhouses, when it comes to big bores.
