Today we played a tournament in Staten Island at Richmond county youth Complex, great fields. We are a 14u team but entered a 15u tournament. So far we swept thefirst 2 games we played today. My boy took the first win, pitched 6 innings, gave up only one run. Ended in the 7th with a 3-2 win. Second game pitched by our other big lefty with a 1-0 win. Thankfull for the win, the righty on the other team was throwing gas, but managed a few hits to get and keep the one run game. Tomorrow morning back at it again

Beautiful here at baseball heaven, 70 and a nice breeze. We split yesterday and coming back today for our third game.

Oh okay because getting pegged by a ball at 80 mph would not tickle...lol..the ump did take one to the grill off the catchers glove, even with the mask he looked shooken up for a while. Alot of these umps take a beaten back there.

That would be totally uncalled for considering these kids dont get paid to play ball and umps aren't getting rich. I will however make it known to the ump if he continues to make bad calls. One of the umps in our championship game this past weekend thought the opposing team only had one out, he actually looked back at the parents (us) because we were telling him no its two outs. He actually signaled over the the fielding ump for help and the ump held up 2 fingers. Some of these guys cant even calll a strike zone let alone keep track of outs. But i have to say for the most part the umps do an okay job.

Have an excellent day, enjoy!!!!

I hate when umps open up the strike zone, it does absolutely nothing to help these kids progress in the game. The only thing that does is confuse them and to teach them to swing at pitches they have no reason swinging at. I understand the protect on a 2 strike count, but some of these umps are blatantly outside the zone. Trust me when i say that some of the calls dont get better as the kids age, i saw a few calls on strikes this past weekend where the ball was biting the kids ankle, how can any kid swing at that. The only thing i can say is that atleast the ump was consistent with both sides...lol

From Brooklyn to East Brunswick, NJ for a 2 day USABL Memorial day tournament and we swept all 4 games to take the Championship in the 14u division. First game 12-1, second 12-2, third game to get into the championship round 8-1 and the championship game 1-0. My boy pitched the third game to get us into the championship game with a 8-1 win, gave up no walks, numerous strikouts and just some soft hits from the opposing team. Being he pitched the game prior, he was an EH for the champioship game and went 4 for 4 with 2 singles and 2 doubles and a RBi. He hit a bomb into the gap which rolled to the fence at 335', the hit brought in the man on second to win the game. That was the only run of the game for both teams, was a great game by both teams all around.

Sure is scary, best wishes for a speedy recovery. Pulled four this weekend off the cooler and people while at a BB tournament in NJ, they are everywhere.

My girl went 4 for 4 tonight and a RBI. We won by a big margin.

Yes and as they throw harder, longer thier bodies, muscles need to heal from the rigors of all that ball playing. Between end of fall ball and start up of winter clinics is a 2-3 month break, my boy doesnt touch a ball for that break. Very important as they get older, that the body needs to heal, especially for pitchers and catchers. And if your kid pitches, ice his/her arm after every game.

Definitely hear you on the hormones, my boys are girl crazy...lol..my 14 year old loves baseball and for last few years thats been his sole passion, playing ball for 3 seasons (sprimg, summer and fall), takes a 2 month break then goes into the gym for wimter clinics. When kids get to that level of commitment in any sport, it makes it hard to play another.

I have to say once you reach HS im not sure how kids could possibly play multiple sports. My son that plays Varsity Baseball had practice almost daily after schoo and with games during the week and a few on weekends, also playing in school band and being in an accelerated law program i couldn't possibly see where he would find anytime to play another sport. When younger my boys played soccer and baseball, but eventually they found their true passion and stuck to one. My boys are not in it for the $$ either, but once you reach HS at this stage they should choose a sport and try to excel in it. Just my 2 cents for what its worth.

Love the kid in the outfield, looks like he has to do #2..lol...miss those ages when things were much simpler. Enjoy it and most importantly have fun!!!!

We will be at Diamond nation as well on the weekend of the 28th.
-
If anyone is playing tourneys, my boy just finished up HS ball and for the summer will be playing strictly tournaments, mostly at diamond nation, baseball heaven and some other venues in NJ and long island.
-
Randalls island, my boy when not playing HS ball will be in a queens league and a few of our games are scheduled at Randalls island.

Someone selling land on craigslist in central NY and posts this picture, what a dumba$$. Would be so easy for DEC to check this guy out, gives the address to the property and all in his ad.
