  1. Yeah how come? We use freezer paper closed with scotch tape on all our cuts and we butcher all our deer. Never had an issue. The only things i will vacumn seal are finished products like sausage, dry sausage. Everything else like backstraps, cutlets, chopmeat are all wrapped in freezer paper. And i cant begin to tell you how many years we have used this method with no issues.
  2. Not many bears by me in central NY, but the population is getting bigger each year. Few years back , i was the only one to take a bear in my township. For me it was a matter of opportunity as i was deer hunting, turned out to be a huge sow that was 230 lbs. Not sure i would take another one because it is alot of work, but definitely wanted to be able to say i took one on my property. By me are alot of fields and corn, so the bears eat good and taste even better...lol..at the time I beleived all the stories on bear meat, its tuff, its very greasy, taste horrible...blah, blah , blah..with believing that i gave most of the meat to the taxidermist who eagerly took it. I took i think a backstrap and a back leg. Had i known how delicious it was, i would have not given up any. People that tried it compared it to a fine cut of beef and had no way of telling it was a bear. Maybe thats because what they feed in my area but i would definitely consider shooting another one just for the meat. Till this day i regret giving the meat away.
  3. Plenty of cats, rats, possums, coons and small dogs in the boros for them to feast on. As long as they can find cover, food is readily available to them.
  4. Well done, pretty cool to see a mulie with brow tines.
  5. Long Islanders better lock up thier small pets, those bastards are opportunistic hunters.
  6. Go get em, best of luck. Keep us posted
  7. I kinda feel bad for you guys, come on group hug.
  8. Thx, yeah theres a few...lol..takes a lot of work to give them a reason to be there. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes its just a pic. Thats why i love hunting so much, its so unpredictable, can happen at a moments time.
  9. Yeah hes a special buck. Cant stop thinking about him...lol...well atleast we can dream.
  10. Have pics. of him in 2017, nothing in 2018 and he reappears in 2019. Has one of the widest racks i have ever see in this area, huge body. Just an absolute slob and amzing animal. In 2017 he was a 3 year old that puts him at 5 1/2 now. Was strolling thru center of one of my plots 10:30am day before i got there. Funny thing is in 2017 he came thru my property on Nov. 2nd and this year Nov 1st. Looks like hes on a mission to find does.
  11. Thats an individual choice, only you need to be happy with what you take. I never cared for peoples opinions about deer i choose to shoot.
  12. Happy Birthday men, may the deer gods bring you a monster buck!!!
  13. Nah, 5' bed is perfect for any size deer. That buck in the pic. was pullled out half way to take pic. The gate was up when i trasported him back to the house and there was still room for another deer.
  14. No, i put in a thick rubber mat made for that bed. So far works great, really keeps things from moving around . And then i put a tri fold soft cover.
  15. You would think at that price they would include shipping, its almost comical to see $29 shipping...lol
  16. Lexus, really. Oh jerkman you disappoint...lol..if you get me pic. of deer in the trunk of your lexus ill give your man card back.
  17. Well i do beleive moog is part Sicilian, might be a distant relative.
