  1. Please let me know if Shawnhu changes his mind... I'm located in Northern Westchester.
  2. Yes, I mean the smoothbore barrel with cantilever mount with or without the scope & rings (I can always keep the scope & rings and put it on another shotgun barrel I already have)
  3. I have been asked (on another site) whether I would break up the combo. I would rather not at this time, but if I did the barrel would have to go first. You can make me an offer on the barrel if you’d like. Also, to reduce the price of the combo, I’d be willing to remove the Simmons scope from the package and drop the price $60 (that would be $665). On top of that I’ll throw in a BSA Green Dot sight for free. Thanks!
  4. Congrats!!! Great bear and an even better story... One for a lifetime... Really nice job. I hope to stumble onto a bear, but a little further out please!
  5. Nice... Merry Christmas! Maybe you'll win Powerball tonight as payback...LOL!!!
  6. Based on the last few posts just prior to yours, there may be a few frozen hunters still there from yesterday... LOL!!!
  7. Forgot to mention that the smooth bore with scope would also be perfect for Turkey too!
  8. For Sale: Browning BPS Field & Deer Combo I set up this combo for my 15 y/o son but decided to go another route. Because of the great difficulty finding and cost of an actual BPS cantilever barrel, I put together this combo myself. This is a 12ga Browning BPS Hunter with fewer than 200 rounds fired. Never taken into the field, we fired this gun at the skeet range (field barrel) and 50 yard range (“slug” barrel) for sighting purposes. Firearm (BPS with original barrel) is in almost new condition. The barrel I bought for slugs has a few scratches, but no rust/pitting. Here’s what the combo includes: Browning BPS Hunter w/ 26” barrel (2-3/4” & 3”) 3 Flush choke tubes (IC, M, F) Choke tube wrench Original box “Slug” barrel: Smooth bore 26” ventilated rib barrel (2-3/4” & 3”) (Browning – Made in Japan) Simmons Pro Diamond 4x32 scope (Model 517793) Scope is mounted to barrel using a B-Square Universal Mount Kane Gun Chaps Price is $750 plus shipping to your FFL. “Slug” barrel will be shipped directly to you. NOTE: Unless you reside in NYS (in which case an FFL is not required) I will ship directly to your FFL. You must pay the fee if an FFL is required on the shipping end.
  9. Back on stand today in Putnam County trying to fill a Doe Tag from sunrise to sunset with nothing moving at all.
  10. Had a spike come up from behind me this morning at 8:30am in Putnam County... One shot from my Remington 1100 20ga and we have venison on the table! Time to give thanks!!! Got help loading him onto my car from some good guys in the parking area. On my way to Amato's in Somers as soon as my son gets home from HS. That's 2 years in a row for me on the Monday after opening weekend... Gonna be hard for me to keep my son in school next year - - he's already complaining! Last year I got a forkhorn from the same spot and it took me 3 hours to drag him out. I immediately invested in a deer cart. It more than paid dividends today as it took me less than an hour to get this guy out.
  11. No... Red Hook in Dutchess County. I just got a spike this morning, so I am headed to Amato's as soon as my son gets home from school!!!
  12. Amato's is actually on Route 100 just north of Route 35 in Katonah/Somers in Westchester County... Cost was $90 for butchering last year... I shot a buck on Monday after opening day and picked up the meat on Wednesday (before Thanksgiving)... I highly recommend them... Shoot me a pm if you need a phone number.
  13. Proximity to other homes for one... Not to mention that tracking a wounded deer onto other folks property would become an issue... I live in a Northern suburb of NYC... Way too many antis here!
  14. I always used Mountain Rest Taxidermy up in the New Paltz area, but I see from his site that he has moved to Kentucky. None the less, he still does work for NY Clients. Joe Milham is the taxidermist and does a great job! http://mountainresttaxidermy.com/
  15. Every year when I go out deer hunting I tell my family (in a kidding way) that "I'm gonna bring home a bear"... In fact, I'm telling them the truth but don't want to get ribbed when I don't come home with a bear, just Bambi's dad. Man would I love to stuble onto one! Best of luck to everyone as the new season unfolds!!!!!
  16. Never had one stolen but I recognize it would be relativley easy to walk off with one. I thought about putting a sticker on my cam that says "If you plan on taking this camera you'd better find the other one I have nearby, cause it just took your photo.... Did you smile for the camera?" In all seriousness, it really sucks that a fellow hunter (presumably) would do that!!!!
