  1. Oh I'm not backing down on that I still think it's unethical even if it's not illegal for exactly the scenario that was laid out: If anyone accidentally grabbed the arrow when in the midst of deer fever and shot a deer with the Fieldpoint there's a very low probability you will harvest that animal. Anyone could make that mistake. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. My point was a cop(?) doesn't care about the minutia known as the regulations. Btw he's had a double lung go a thousand yards. I'm just trying to find out if it is or isn't legal...call me anal, I like to know the rules. Therefore I'll contact the dec and get the answer. I make lots of mistakes (like posting on this site) and have missed and wounded animals...not at all perfect. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Can you carry lead shot when hunting migratories. Can you shoot squirrels with your rifle/slug gun during deer. I'm asking? I'm not the one shooting a deer in the heart with a field point by accident. I guess concurrent either sex deer turkey coyote and pigs doesn't provide enough opportunities to shoot. 4. I'm looking everywhere, please point me to any link. Do we agree you can't hunt a deer with one? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Teehee, im just saying he's a bit more abrasive than your average troll...to keep me away from sweethearts like you! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Than link it...not found a single official source beyond what is a legal head for big game...like I said PGC is clear on it...not legal. Like I said, the second you nock it for deer, intentional or not you are illegal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Belo chased me away from this site last year after I admitted I cleanly missed 4 in archer last year and only harvested 1. Btw I harvested 2 in gun last year and 15 total in the past 6 years hunting by myself without help in ny. Well this year I have four harvested in archey and I keep looking for all Belo's deer (sure seems to see alot) but I'm not finding them posted anywhere?!? Hmm?!? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Any source on that info...like I said its unethical at the least for exactly the reason g&r used as an excuse, you could load it in error, then you are definitely illegal.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. G&R cop...I can tell you with certainty that in Pennsylvania it is absolutely illegal to have a non-big game head in the quiver...and that is in a state with crossbow wide open during archery. It is unlawful to hunt deer in ny with a field point, and intended or not that harvest was unlawful. The unintended aspect of the story is exactly why it is atleast unethical if not unlawful to carry a field point or judo while deer hunting. As far as the broad head debate I can only give an informed positive review of the rage, having never used the reapers. I feel you may accuse others of the type of hyperbole I pick up from your posts on the matter. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Glad you got a visual on him....still a chance to harvest him this season. Going to help others track is a sign of a good friend and ethical hunter. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. In regards to shooting a deer with a field point, Im pretty sure It's illegal to carry anything but a big game head when hunting deer. Also g&r cop, geno and I are passionate about the 2 blades from experience... Just the same way you formed your opinion. I actually documented my experience, but no one who hates rage commented on those pics or stories. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Couldn't resist an am sit in this! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Heading out back to hunt the hedgerow behind the house...a couple harvests back here over the years.
  14. They are not cheap but recovering quickly is priceless in my opinion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I feel the opposite is true..3 blades leaves a hyde-flap that can clog the hole...2 blades leave a massive slice pulled and held open by the tension of the Hyde. That's a lung hanging out the entry wound in the first pick. That deer went 40 yds lung-heart-lung. Second pic is my 3rd antlerless this year, double lunged ran 80...could fit my hand/forearm thru the wound channel...the last 40yd their was probably a liter of blood in 36" puddle every 5 yards. All four of my deer died within 15 seconds even the one hit in the femoral, she dropped in 20 yds. Arrow passed thru the rib cage on my buck but lodged in the opposite foreleg...could see blood pouring out of the enrty wound as he ran 60 and piled up on front of me. 16. Had 2 come in, 1 inside 25 no lane...shed be done in gun.
  17. Loving life and my wife...lookin for a bald head. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I also like to practice after a lot of physical activity (lawm mowing, chopping wood) to reproduce the fatigue of hunting hard in the cold coupled with the high heart rate of deer fever. I do this especially in the late summer early fall when i start reducing shooting to 1-3 arrows a day.
  19. Never shot the Reapers...just switched from Montec CS to Rage 2 Blade. Here was my impressions of the 2 blades: http://huntingny.com/forums/topic/19672-rage-2-blade-entry-wounds/?p=254182
  20. Word just came down from the boss (aka my wife)...I can hunt this pm! Snow day!!!! Another chance to fill my wife's dmp's with the bow madness.
  21. Make a personal goal and try to stick to it. If you need to harvest a deer for meat, take the first legal one that provides a good opportunity. If you want to protect yearlings don't shoot any yearlings. If you want to protect 2 year olds don't shoot any of those either. Finally if you are hunting a small piece of land then letting one walk doesn't mean it's not going to get shot on a neighboring property.
