  1. California is really mucking up the works with their first gun confiscation law, and innocent gun owners are paying for it, both in cash and persecution. http://www.guns.com/2015/03/27/california-republicans-seeking-investigation-on-gun-confiscation-rates/
  2. OK, let's get off the hunting issue and talk about the other issue. Who needs an AR type rifle and large cap mags? The people in LA during the riots and the people of Ferguson MO that had them still have their stores and their properties. I'll bet they are glad they had them. Those rifle can hunt, no doubt about it, but they are also great for defense, and that's what the owner's are aware of when they buy one. The right to self defense with a modern firearm is protected by the 2A, so anyone with issues over people owning one for hunting or not, is promoting the elimination of your 2A rights. Anyone who tries to say you're paranoid or a right wing crazy because you think you might need one to defend yourself someday is living in a dream world where nothing bad will ever happen in the future because this is America and that can't happen here. Now if you want to say we shouldn't antagonize these tyrants and try to placate them, you are already accepting defeat and will never get them to stop at AR's when they win that battle. They've already come after your semi auto pistol if it can take a magazine that holds more than 10 rounds. Thinking you can find some sort of compromise with these gun banners is naive.
  3. If we are told we can not assume all Muslims are terrorists because of the actions of a few crazies, why are they allowed to say all AR owners are crazies because of the actions of one or two?
  4. And that's one of the main reasons for their popularity. Young people are used to them, understand them and trust them. Every former military person I know that's under 40 years old has an AR. They want what they were trained on.
  5. I can get 10 round mags for a Rem 7400 too. Those are not for hunting game though. It's not a drawback to have a rifle that has versatility. Besides, the rifle is only built for one round, the magazine is built for the rest.
  6. No avoidance junkie. You're in the wrong thread forum. Start a new thread in the politics section and we can debate until the end of time for all I care.
  7. No, the main point I see is, many hunters fear what the general public thinks about something and are willing to be subordinates to their fears and biases, rather than stand up to them and defend their freedom of choice and 2A rights. They don't realize they are allowing the general public to dictate the rules, rather than standing up for their own right to make the rules. Personally, I think this is the reason we have lost as much of our rights as we have. I do not like AR's myself because I hate the sound of the recoil spring in my right ear when I shoot it, but after reading this thread, I think EVERY hunter should go out and get one now and hunt deer with it this season, just to prove we will not cower at the feet of the uninformed, frail and scared general pussulace!
  8. Look junkie, I realize you hear "sounds" all the time, but this isn't a political thread. Therefore it's not the place for debate with you. Besides, I did a background check on you and your shrink sent me this.....
  9. Only if those views are unconstitutional.
  10. Yeah, some people really have issues with the US Constitution.
  11. LOL! I'm sure they wouldn't let either you or junkie in Buzz. I'm sure Leftists would be considered the worst illegals of all.
  12. Hope you all can read these charts. They go to 1200 yards. As you can see the .270 does shoot flatter, but look at the wind drift.
  13. How much does a 130 gr .270 btsp drop at 1000 yards when sighted in for a 200 yard zero, and how much drift must be accounted for in a 10 MPH crosswind? Shooting that far off a bench rest is difficult enough. Anyone who thinks they can guarantee a one shot hit at that range on a live animal that may move, while resting their shooting iron on a back pack, log or bi-pod in the field, with ANY rifle, is a man you should bet BIG money against when he offers the chance. There was once a time when the .30-06 was the 1000 yard champion in competition. The .270 never was champion at 1000 yards in competition. I believe the reason has to do with real world variables not working out the way ballistic tables say they should. Besides the man asked for other opinions. Mine is still the same. There is so little difference in performance between the two it would be redundant to buy a .270 if one has an -06, and vice versa.
  14. I have absolutely no issue with it being used under a doctor's control, if it is in fact needed by the patient. Today "medical" marijuana is dispensed by so called doctors for anything that pays them enough for the prescription.

Were not your "average" deer hunters

In the woods about 150 yards, but in the open fields 500 is possible.
  17. Or even applicable, as the average hunter and shooter does not have the skill set to accurately hit targets at 500 yards or more, especially under field conditions.
  18. Would you rather get your medicines from a dealer on the street corner? If not for prescription drugs, many people alive today would be dead. Not all prescription drugs are completely safe, but you need to weigh the risk against the benefit. Many problems associated with them have more to do with the doctor prescribing them, than with the drugs themselves. Weed may not have killed a lot of people, but it is not curing or preventing any diseases either.
  19. I think the .257 Wby shoots flatter with equal energy on target.
  20. I guess this is proof a person doesn't need an "assault rifle" to kill lots of people if they want to.
  21. I would hope he would have been taken out of the cockpit if that be the case.
  22. Why the need to kill innocents when taken your own life though?
  23. One requires a prescription from a doctor for one thing.
  24. I considered it, but until more info comes out, I'm not even assuming it was terrorism. But if he was forced to do it by terrorists, it's still terrorism.
  25. Nothing wrong with having a back up rifle on hand, even though the odds of needing it are very low. But it still begs the question, why have another rifle that is the same, or similar to the first one when you can have more versatility in your rifle battery?
