Sure. Back then the US Dollar was worth something.

With the above warning about freedom, ask yourself why the government is giving out all sorts of freebies and then restricting freedom in various ways, the biggest restriction being 2nd Amendment rights. The party of the freebies, taxpayer funded of course, is also the party of gun control. It's much easier to slam the gate on freedom if nobody can defend themselves. Little by little the truth slips out. Why do they mistrust and fear the people if they aren't doing anything to make people want to revolt? Does owning a 30 round mag mean your arming yourself against the government, or is the government trying to make sure you can't fight? Once again the Democrats are pushing this bill. If you believe the Democrats are not the party of gun control, and everything evil that will come from it, you never will, until it's too late to do anything about it. http://thehill.com/regulation/231884-democrat-uses-capitol-shooting-threat-in-push-for-ammo-limits

Wild Pigs - A Reminder For All A thought to remember, Marx said, "Remove one freedom per generation and soon you will have no freedom and no one would have noticed." There was a chemistry professor in a large college that had some exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab, the professor noticed one young man, an exchange student, who kept rubbing his back and stretching as if his back hurt. The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist regime. In the midst of his story, he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked: "Do you know how to catch wild pigs?" The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said that it was no joke. "You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come every day to eat the free food. "When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. "They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side. "The pigs, which are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat that free corn again. You then slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd. Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity." The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening in America. The government keeps pushing us toward Communism/Socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tax exemptions, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare entitlements, medicine, drugs, etc., while we continually lose our freedoms, just a little at a time. One should always remember two truths: There is no such thing as a free lunch, and you can never hire someone to provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself. If you see that all of this wonderful government "help" is a problem confronting the future of democracy in America, you might want to share this with your friends. God help us all when the gate slams shut! Quote for today: "The problems we face today are there because the people who work for a living are now outnumbered by those who vote for a living."

When I had my bear rug done, the taxidermist asked if it was a boar or a sow. It was a sow. He advised I get it done with an open mouth, claiming a bear female and a human female both hate to keep their mouth shut. LOL! Hey, he had to sell it, because it cost $100 more.

It does have a big impact on new homes that want a stove, as well as any homeowner who decides they want to put one in, having never had one in the past. This goes on top of recent regulations defining what type of hot water heater you can now put in your home as well. If you need a new one, it will cost much more and be a lot bigger. Some of the new ones don't fit where the old one was. Remember the new light bulb mandate? Regulation is getting highly irregular.

Domestic Cats may cause disease in muskrats and mink
Mr VJP replied to mike rossi's topic in Trapping
I can't wait to see proposed legislation requiring cats to be leashed. LOL! Allowing cats to roam free should be banned though. Feral Cats should be trapped and euthanized. Maybe that would prevent some cat owners from setting them free when they no longer want them. -
And George Soros will spend over a billion dollars on Democrats, Leftist Think Tanks and various progressive 527's bent on achieving his goal of a new world order. Philoshop was referring to money given directly to the scientific community by this administration and climate change advocates. http://www.thefederalistpapers.org/political-cartoon/global-temperature-data-falsified-for-years-to-show-warming-cartoon-reveals-why

If you don't have a good .22 LR for hunting, you should have one. I consider mine a rifle for small game out to 50 yards. Beyond that I like my .22 Mag for small game out to 100 yards. The ammo is available everywhere and there are many high velocity, flat shooting cartridge options to choose from. You can sometimes also find standard velocity .22 Mag ammo at really good prices. That's the time to stock up. I've never owned a .17 HMR. When I looked into one, I compared it to a nice .223 and found the price and performance of the .223 to be a better choice. You can also reload for the .223 but not the 17 HMR. If my .22 Mag isn't enough for the game I'm after, I go with the .223. The next step up from that is usually my 7mm-08. One thing that drives me crazy about the .17 caliber rifles is finding a good cleaning kit for it. Plus, you have to have a kit just for it, or just for your .17 caliber rifles. I find the 17 HMR to be a very specialized rim fire round that, has a very specialized application. I prefer more versatility in my hunting rifles. To me, a rifle is a tool and I prefer to use what I believe is the right tool for the job. Many specialized tools are nice to have, but don't get used very often.

Here's a whole book on the history of American Environmental Regulation you can read. It's the Democrats that push environmental regs through, and they've been doing it since 1970. https://books.google.com/books?id=NUZ1AwAAQBAJ&pg=PT187&lpg=PT187&dq=is+the+epa+generally+democrat+or+republican&source=bl&ots=kavKGeCe0u&sig=P0AdnfgGFI093BSc1eN8u2K5VlE&hl=en&sa=X&ei=ncDWVJSoJsWigwT4v4CwAQ&ved=0CCgQ6AEwAjgK#v=onepage&q&f=false

According to the EPA website, it proposed these new wood stove regs in January 2014. Democrats controlled Congress then. The first draft proposal was done in March 2013. Democrats were in control. All of the states suing the EPA to have it also include wood fired water heaters are blue states with Democrats in control. The EPA's rules generally plague the American business community, which tends to support Republican candidates who generally oppose EPA mandates that harm the economy and businesses. It's the Democrats and the Left that are pushing the global warming agenda, not Republicans and the right. The Clean Air Act was passed in 1970. The 91st Congress in control in 1970 had Democrat Majorities in each house. An entire slew of environment regulating acts were passed throughout 1970 under this Democrat controlled Congress. I've done a lot of research over the years on the EPA and have only been enlightened to the fact that it grows in power and scope when Democrats are in power and usually gets major funding cuts when Republicans are in power. The GOP is always criticizing the EPA for harming the economy while the Democrats are always defending and running interference for it. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/10/09/epa-republican-war-defund_n_1000664.html I don't know where you get your info from, but it seems someone is taking you for a long ride.

But those were more of a half pipe design, not a peaked roof type.

I'm sure it is going to happen. But unless it is a rule that must be followed by everyone, including youth hunters, it will not work. I just wonder if they plan to issue more antlerless tags at the same time. If not, we will see too many deer in many areas. I also think it will have a negative affect on many out of state hunters, reducing the number of out of state licenses sold.

I often heard it said, "Some people have 20 years of experience, some have 1 year of experience 20 years over."

FREE THE ANIMALS!!! Pet emancipation and eventual suffrage portends a shift in the electoral patterns of America's by-the-numbers political system. It is estimated that there are more cats than dogs in the USA by pet ownership statistics. While it is difficult to know the number of stray dogs versus cats, an intuitive guess is that there are more cats than dogs. Observation of strays seems to point to a higher free cat population. When was the last time you saw a dog out and about, not tethered to its owner? Stray dogs were once more common but are no longer due to stricter leash laws and fear of physical and emotional separation on the part of the pooper scooper wielder and thirty-pound-sack-of-feed dispenser. By their very nature cats would be able to survive independently. They are freedom loving beings with an aristocratic air about them. It is often observed that cats own their keepers rather than the opposite, despite the protestation of many of those who empty the kitty litter box and open the tuna can. It is not difficult to guess the likely voting patterns of dogs vs cats based on psychology and behavior. Dogs are more servile and dependent. In the wild they hunt in packs. They are a collectivist bunch. Dogs are indiscriminate in which butt they will sniff. Are they not natural born leftists and democrats? It remains to be determined what the voting patterns of tropical fish, horses, or cockatoos will be. I suspect that ferrets may turn out to be the wild card. "Although Mr. Grimm begins “Citizen Canine” writing that pets are “becoming more like people in our society”, he ultimately rejects the notion — embraced by some advocates of animal rights — of conferring “personhood” on animals. But not because he has problems with this language or with the implications of such arguments. He rejects it because, he says, we need animals “to remind us of who we are and where we came from”: “When we turn cats and dogs into people, we lose the animal part of ourselves.” This article is an interesting read regarding society's push to give animals "Rights". http://www.nytimes.com/2014/04/18/books/david-grimms-citizen-canine-looks-at-an-evolving-status.html?_r=0

Actually an expert is a person who's opinion is respected because of their track record. An elitist is someone who tries to force their opinion on the masses because the feel they are more intelligent, or better than, the masses, in spite of their past track record.

All three of the manufacturers you mentioned have good budget priced options. The Nikon Pro Staff series and the Redfield Revolution scopes have gotten excellent reviews over the years. I have one of each and find them to be excellent, especially for the price. I can't say much about Burris though, having never owned one.

The most important thing to remember is, the title is bestowed upon a person by peers, it is not something one can proclaim by themselves.

You did say it was your job. How so? Regarding the above link, a quote from the article here: Experts agree that the coyote population in Pennsylvania is exploding. Game Commission Press Secretary Travis Lau said that 10 years ago there were 15,000 to 20,000 coyotes in the state. In 2012, more than twice as many — 40,000 coyotes — were killed by hunters, he said.
