  1. Maybe someone with more "years of experience" or a "higher post count" than I can chime in and help, but my advice is also to shoot it and see what the groups look like then proceed to paper tune it if it needs it. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  2. Was just reading previous threads and posts that the OP started/replied to. Interesting read. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  3. Sounds like a troll to me. I'm with Belo on this one. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  4. Sorry to hear the Parker go, but maybe with a fresh setup, the dreaded missing curse will not follow. Good luck with it, shoot straight. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  5. Sorry to hear, looks like Nov then. I'd call around the local archery shops and ask/request a class be held before then if you are so inclined. It may, or may not work. Queens Archery and ProLines in queens and puce also got Smithtown archery in LI. Blue Mountain may also hold courses from time to time, these places may be just waiting for enough interest to do another course. 6. As stated before, nothing wrong with being excited and wanting to announce to the world that you shot at a nice deer. Problem comes in when said person titles it the way this thread, and many others, stating "doe down", "deer down", "got it done" etc, when in fact, its FAR from done. Not even close. Sometimes the hunt only starts the moment you pull that trigger, or release that arrow. Its the mentality of these folks that give this sport a bad name, not the honest ones that are humble and have some humility. Taking a bad shot isn't the end of the world, and shouldn't be shamed to no end. But taking a bad shot and thinking you done nothing wrong and show no remorse should be discouraged amongst hunters. There's just way too many of these overconfident hunters on here, and its dangerous because this IS the World Wide Web, for all to see. 7. http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/92276.html According to the DEC website, there was a combination course available for Oct 30, but registration is now closed. If I were you, I'd try to get in contact with the instructor ASAP to see if he'll let you in. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  8. http://huntingny.com/forums/index.php?/topic/17775-2013-HNY-DMP-swap-thread X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  9. The white-footed mice! X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  10. Have you checked outside of NYC for the classes? When I took my hunters course, I drove over an hr away and stayed overnight in my vehicle. It was subzero temps, and I'm forever known as the guy that slept in the car to my instructors. Get it done! X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  11. Even the worse archer can hit something, if he's consistently bad at it. Consistence is everything in archery, right? This is no different from the guys that shoot with one pin and adjusts for the shot. They've practiced it(or should have) and know how high it low to aim. For the OP, he just needs to also account for windage..... X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  12. Similar rule applies at Stewart Forest, stay on your side of the road and walk anywhere you want. Makes little sense. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  13. I'm glad. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  14. This thread brings back memories. Hey Deerpassion, how you doing buddy? X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  15. I don't see a difference in shooting with a T shirt on or a jacket. My elbow is always bent anyway, so a little more or less doesn't affect my shots out to 40. I don't use gloves now, just stick my hands in my pocket to keep warm. Hand warmers later when I need them, and maybe a pair of thin gloves when that time comes. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  16. Never said there wasn't. What's your point? Simple isn't always better. Might be better for some, but clearly not for all. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  17. Don't need to be hunting or shooting a weapon to alert a chopper. Did it before just fishing. Chopper circled for a couple minutes and was on their way. The government was unlimited funds, when they want to. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  18. Keep making those generalizations, soon you'll believe them to be fact. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  19. Your attempt at making a fact from your generalization is a joke. Your attempt at belittling others about lack of years is the same train of thought from some Internet bully that goes by post count. Coming from someone of your position on this forum is even more of a joke. I'm not a "fan boy" of any particular rest or bow, but you sure make it out to seem that way. You are the one that makes it out like the WB is the end-all to all arrow rests. Like I said, it's not the rest that I have the issue with, it's usually the ignorance of some users of such rest. Simple works for some, but not for all. I've shot from both, and find that I enjoy shooting a drop more. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  20. The reflective that we see in cams an when shining a light during night time is all due to the rear of the eye reflecting back. If an eye is not reflecting as it should, I suspect internal damage to that eye and again, may be blind in that eye. I don't believe it to be superficial outer coating damage. My fish gets eye infection from time to time, but always heals and the reflective never goes away. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  21. The WB comes in different inner diameter sizes. Perhaps the smaller one might fit? X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  22. I haven't looked into it, TBH, but I wouldn't risk it in NYC. Heck, they can charge me with attempted murder for shooting a bow if they wanted to, what they got to lose? X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  23. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tapetum_lucidum Hope this clarifies. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  24. Its actually not the covering that's reflective, its the inner eye. If an eye is not reflecting, its most likely blind in that eye for these nocturnal animals. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
  25. You're in a whole different world here my friend. The cops may not bother arresting you, they might just shoot you. Stay safe. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
