  1. Did you aim for the head? At how many yards did you take the shot?
  2. I agree with 13BVET. I am from NYC, lived here all my life. It would almost seem impossible to excercise the 2nd ammendment without someone hounding you for this permit, that license and payment for such. I understand that NYC is a big city, but is it really wise to disarm the honest, while the authorities can't even get crime under control?
  3. Luckily, the hair gods have spared me, and I never have to shave.
  4. I don't see any harm in hunting these critters with an airgun.
  5. Walt, Would love to meet you, and other members as well. As 13BVET said, come on down!
  6. Spoke to DEC Officer Damrath yesterday regarding this exact question, DEC authority. They don't have more authority than State Police, but they do need much less probable cause to do the things State Police is allowed to do, say search your trunk, enter your home, etc.etc. They do not need warrants to do something, if they feel it's ECL related. So yes, they can enter your property, and they will.
  7. Dave, PM me your number and if I hear anything, I'll send you the update.
  8. Dave, I used to see Rabbits infested where I used to go to school in Suffolk. They pretty much need fields, and cover, which 13BVET has stated. Used to see 10-20 rabbit every night out on the football fields at night.
  9. Looking forward to meeting a few of you guys. Elmo, would you be interested in going up together?
  10. Perhaps early season rabbits can be found, providing that the dogs aren't running them all year long.
  11. Elmo, The inner road system at Stewart is currently closed, so there will be no vehicle entry unless you are authorized. Most of us will be parking outside, and walking in. Some spots in the Forest does accomodate for more than 1 vehicle, depending on the spot. Dave, No rifles allowed in this State Forest, but shotguns, airguns, and bows are allowed. I am not sure if handguns and crossbows are allowed or not.
  12. Elmo, There are a few spots outside of the 3 main parking areas outside the Forest. I believe he is referring to one of these. These spots only accomodate one vehicle, so that's why we should plan an organized trip over there. It'll be fun, and I'll be looking forward to meeting some local small game hunters. Shawn
  13. I second that! LoL If you shot it with a quiet gun, maybe the person on the other end of the phone won't hear you.
  14. Anyone know a good way to preserve the pelts so that they don't go bad?
  15. I don't think you can shoot one in the city, even if you are doing it with an airgun and own your own property. You need to be 500' away from another dwelling or have permission from said dwelling/s
  16. Did the remingtons misfire, or fired and missed? Makes a big difference.
  17. Hunting any animal with a co2 pellet pistol is not allowed, is it?
