Yeah, I created a facebook page the other day for the site so people can "Like" it or whatever http://www.facebook.com/pages/HuntingNYcom-New-York-Hunting-Forums-and-Chat/128002013884247 And a Twitter Page - > http://twitter.com/HuntingNY

I just checked, there are 34 with "New York", but if you put in "NY" there are 73. Thats a pretty good chunk.

Doc - unfortunately I don't get enough time in the woods. For opening rifle I always try to take off Monday, Tues and Wed. So I am up there for 5 Days. Then I usually get up there for another weekend or two with a Monday. If I had the time available, I'd be up there the whole time!

All I see is a little brown moving during the middle of the video BTW where do you hunt? Looks like a Jungle!

Sounds like a awesome idea, to bad there aren't more of them.

The site hopefully we get more and more indexed as time goes on... I am surprised its in there already to be honest.

I tried to hit up where i found people talking about empirehunting. Unfortunately where I posted on buckbarn they nuked the post where I replied to someone just as I did with yours on realtree. -
I may just stick to some hay or something easy to start... I have seen all that crap they sell, its never ending. I did find this "No Plow" stuff that looked interesting... http://www.whitetailinstitute.com/products/noplow/ I was considering getting one of these : http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_07126055000P?vName=Lawn%20&%20Garden=&cName=ATVAttachments&sName=Rakes%20&%20Levelers=&psid=FROOGLE01&sid=IAx20090815x000001&aff=Y or this: http://www.atvplowsplus.com/shop/pc/viewprd.asp?idcategory=&idproduct=47

Doc, Get it out there so we can see some deer!

Yeah for sure, I am a camera nut anyways. I always have it with me.

Its a full Archery shop and range. It's a really nice place, there is a fee, however I don't go enough to complain about the cost. This is the place: http://www.kpsearch.com/df/cbarcherynew/all.asp

This was a spike that hung out for about 30 min under my stand last year during bow season. He was close enough to take a picture with my crappy iphone camera. About 20 min after he left a nice 6+ pointer came by about 75 yards out.

I gave the DEC a call, they said that the new tags are mailed around late August / early September. Then to get the DMP you just need your license # or the actual license.

When scouting my property (we only have had it for a few months now) it seemed all the places where I wanted a tree stand, I couldn't find a nice group of trees. So I am not sure what I am going to do, I'm sure once I get up there again with the actual wood in my hands I'll find a good spot. The tree stand I have on my uncles property is about 25 feet up, and its a 3 tree grouping. When the winds blow you move with the wind, its pretty scary, but a solid stand because of that band iron.

The only three rifles I have ever owned was a 35 (great walking gun, short barrel), a 30-06 (love it), and a 22 (my first gun). If its rifle now, then maybe it may switch back to shotgun, what would be the harm in being safe and getting a nice shotgun w/a scope? The one my dad has is dead on at 100 yards.

I'm a "down stater" as they say So I have to go to a range, unfortunately if I whipped out a bow in my backyard the cops would probably come and I just dont have the room to be safe. However, there is a nice range about 1 mile from my house, that has both 3D and standard targets. Although I do bring my bow when I go to the property, and I also has a friend that has a sump next to his house and we go in there to shoot. I was upstate last weekend, the bugs were annoying, they were swarming if you stood still. Its amazing how they follow you everywhere and anywhere.
-
I always say I am going to keep shooting in the off season, however other hobbies and jobs (The wife list) get in the way. I was planning on going to the range next week, and I'd like to at least go once per week, then kick it up to two times a week in august. I think I am going to get a different release this year, so I'll need some more practice anyway.

This sounds like something I'm going to do... How did you get the lag bolts in the tree? Or did you use lag screws? The reason I suggested band iron is so the wood could have a little movement and not crack the wood when the tree moves / grows.

Its pretty basic standard forum. I have a lot of work to do to get it to where I would like it to be. For now we have a brown theme, however I'm working on spicing it up a bit. Its going to be hard to try to find / notify all those old members from empire, however I hope they find their way.

That's a good point... I also got the lifetime bow. Even at the price it is now, its still not a bad deal depending upon your age. I already descided once I have kids (soon) the first thing I am going to do is get them a life time license. If they are under the age of 4 its $380, which isn't bad right? I also found on there that the DMP is free as JC said if: Anyways, now that I have the lifetime, I am assuming they mail the tags out ever year for you? Any idea when that happens? I also need to setup a reminder to enter the lottery for the DMP too.

Whats pretty neat is look at the first pic, which was about a month ago, then look at how green it got in one month in one of the other pictures. All those ferns (i think) growing and all the leaves growing on the trees.

I'm going to do treated wood for my floor boards. I actually ordered some screw in type steps from cabella's so that should be a lot safer then screwing in steps. I ordered a pack of 40 of them, so that should be good for at least 2 tree stands. They screw in metal steps say then can hold up to 1000 lbs each (wow?). Update these are them: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0004907416044a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH_all&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&Ntt=416044&Ntk=Product_liberal&sort=all&Go.y=6&N=0&Nty=1&hasJS=true&_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form1&Go.x=15

It is... My uncle used to always hunt up in Margaretville when he was younger and never once saw a bear in the 20+ years having property there. Now they are all over... Same goes for my other uncles place in Walton, bear all over. The property I have up on Cochecton has bear all over... So they keep moving more and more downstate or coming over from PA?

I watch a bunch, but for the life of my I caint remember the names besides Ted Nugent and The Crush . There are a ton of bow hunting shows on outdoors TV.
