  1. Don't wait for next yr. There's Plenty of lessons to learn in the woods this year!
  2. They don't go far when ya hitter like that! Nice video production. I only have kill shots, none of the fancy stuff =D
  3. Depends on the cover in the area. If I'm in open hardwoods I go a bit higher (20').... My bow hoist rope is 20' if I'm on a hardwood next to a pine, there's no reason to go that high. I ALWAYS hook up my hunter safety system for the climb up/down. Keep in Mind not only trajectory angles but the higher u go the more likely u are to blast a shoulder....
  4. Anyone have any info on using Clethodim for a grass herbicide? I've done some research an it appears to be much cheaper than spraying for grasses than Arrest (kill grass keep broadleaf I.e. Clover, chic etc).... Was wondering where to get it and if u need a license to spray it....
  5. I agree, gettin close to fall Leavem potted n keep em wet!
  6. I'm fortunate enough to have a dad that BUILT a grinder for our JD4200. Grinding is the way to go IMO. It will take care of most of the roots too. If not, I believe--but not 100% that there is something u can put on it to make them decay faster (lime or nitrogen I think) cut them as low as possible bit then stake the area so u don't trash your root tiller or discer....good luck
  7. Hello, my name is DROK0352 and I'm a deeroholic.....
  8. If your doing it "by hand", drop 2 or three trees at a time. Limb them out and stack 5-6' trunk pieces I find this method works best for burning the wood at camp later on. It's easier to transport via atv trailer. Once they're at yer camp cuttem down to 16" n split. I've made the mistake of dropping 20 trees at a time and having a mangled mess! THEYRE A LOT BIGGER ONCE THEY HIT THE GROUND!
  9. Western, started an orchard last year. What do u do to keep weeds off the trunks of the trees?
  10. IMO I would wait til fall rains start pickin up. (unless it's very moist soil-fear of false germination) Not sure about the rake...one option might be scuffing it w disc. We had real good success spraying Arrest for grass this year (takes about 3-4 weeks to notice the kill)
  11. Depends on the characteristics of your property. Our property consists of mostly pines and mixed harwoods...great for bedding but not feeding. We were able to master the plot game over a five year learning curve and have major success. It's not uncommon to see 6-9 antlerless deer plus turkey in the plots at a time. It's a great way to salivate over the season and take inventory on trail cams til the arrows start flying!
