  1. Tucker ..I'd love to tell you but to be honest...I'd have to 're-read the info to be sure...it peaked my interest so must be at least fair...you know how cheap I am...I have been reading and studying up on so much lately my brain hurts... it was the amount of micro nutrient added that peaked my interest...though our local farmer also sell them. I posted in another thread all the not so healthy nor beneficial things in granular fertilizers...So I'm looking to at least get a rotation going between plant, granular and liquids going. This is off the top of my head 2 1/2gals 12-15gal 12,000 ft...39.00
  2. OK ,I'm saying straight up,you guys looking to plant fruit trees have to order the Rain tree nursery catalog. I have ordered from them and received nice stock...Yes they are on the west coast but their stock is like none other and cultivars from around the world...They also sell root stocks...lots and lots 2 pages of them and all the equipment needed for grafting....detailed plant descriptions and origins....they have every kind of tree and berry , grapes, nuts and very unusual fruiting plants...not cheap...but not bad for what you get...about the same prices as crapstatic Gurneys. Check them out on line and sign up for their news letter.
  3. Ps................. the fact that he boldly told you what he did, tells me this....That was a shot across your bow letting you know to move on. Very passive aggressive....I'd hunt next to his stand every single chance I got...and never give him a chance to "help " look for another deer...chances are he found the trail and never said a word that night.
  4. I want to know what you said when he told you.. I wouldn't want a deer I knew I didn't shoot unless it was a carcass(skull) find...I lost a deer like that to a neighbor that gave me and deer search permission to track...another that a neighbor dragged off guts and all when I went to get permission...haha before cell phones...both big deer...If they needed them that bad so be it....they have a hard time looking me in the eye...and I'm not shy about telling locals what happened....
  5. Agreed Elmo...like I said place and time. It's not the technology that is the problem...it's the people using it... Kinda like weapons
  6. LOL, I'm accused of rambling in another thread yet ,I would actually have to point out obvious exceptions in this. People wonder why I feel a need for inserting examples and pictures. No I would not be surprised. IE construction sites, phones not radios, Office jobs...but the guy on a assembly line( really am I doing this) the person waiting tables, washing dishes, clerking at a check out, receptionist. No one has to take a personal call or many, throughout the day...Nor do they NEED to make them...actually this site and many, boggle my mind with work hour tap talk. Wait.... before you say it..... I'm sure your all putting in the absolute most productive day for your bosses and you deserve this forum time for all the extra hours you (not you personally) put in...Did I cover everything?, Yep, think so.
  7. Time and a place....when your at a function be present...remove the phone When at work...I actually think phones should not be allowed to be on, same as in school...not on vibrate...off Family get together's, meals, sporting events for school or concerts,plays,ect,ect...OFF not on vibrate...But alas, It will never happen like not wearing hats while indoors...yes that bugs me, my issue.
  8. Thanks for that little, little bit of insight Belo
  9. I was a good ways away behind a van and car...I saw this thin looking thing fly over the top of the van then the car...It was tumbling through the air and I thought someone lost a sheet of cardboard...until it landed The Van kept going but the guy in the car was stopped on the road side as I pulled up behind him...there was a doe on the other side of the road...head up, feet tucked like she was just bedding there no big deal. We both got out talk then decided to try and approach her...she got up ,jumped the rail and ran down into a gully as we watched...probably died later but I still can see her flipping through the air over that van and car like paper in the wind ...it was wild...
  10. That's what the snow is for...make Jack wax...
  11. It's in the NYODN this week...4 or 5 as I recall but the thing they mentioned was, out of that it was the all time record low for actual incidents...I think 13 were mentioned...I don't have the paper near me right now so those #'s may be off a little...
  12. I won't use the T word for I dislike it...but looking at your stats, what ever it's called. No area, no equipment,no hunting preference. Then a mention of coyote hunting and self serving hunters for your first post. This where only illegal supplements, possible lure bans and liquid fertilizers were mentioned...hhhmmmm
  13. I almost forgot...plums wild plums...the deer go crazy for them..That said the other important thing...spread...some shrubs spread by root suckering ...even trees and brambles do...So where you plant is very important you can control spread by mowing...I learned the hard way with the plum...I don't regret planting them just where...I planted them along my garden fence...They act as a deer barrier deer won't, cant jump them...mowing keeps them at bay out side the garden but man tilling up those roots each year in the garden is a PITA. and they are stealing nutrients from the plants...so you will get very fast thick cover and prized fruit...but know some things need control.
  14. and "off colored jokes? I figured this being a predominately male site someone could enlighten me. I have noted for years and years the older men get the more they are prone to telling, about anyone in ear shot off colored jokes..Now I'll admit this may be a thing with older woman as well though not in public...I have heard some..jaw dropping jokes from older ladies...is it a diminish verbal censor we all have. Lowering of inhibitions as we age? I let an old guy cut in front of me in line...next thing I know he is just chatting away...I have to admit my mind was wandering "how can he be talking so fast, he must have been an auctioneer, OMG look how dirty his clothes are" Ok the last one wasn't nice but really. The whole time I was smiling ,nodding and occasionally agreeing, I have little idea of what he said. The clerk distracted him a moment and I turned away...the guy behind me just chuckled...then it happened...He is about to leave when he turns to me and says " tThey did a survey after the election, Asking Monica Lewinsky did you vote for Hilary Clinton this election? She replied , No the last Clinton I voted for left a bad taste in my mouth! He then smiled ear to ear and walked away. I think the whole store heard me laugh...not at the joke but his parting gift to me LOL I believe it may have made his entire day from the expression on his face
  15. Here's one more thing to consider when making your own mix...nutrient values diminish once your plants start to set flowers /seed. Now I mow to combat weeds..but annual clovers need to set seed to continue their cycle into the following season...not all annual clovers are equal in seed set and mow wrong time ..you get my point...but not all clovers flower seed at the same time, so look into early/ late flowering combinations.
  16. Well there was a ton of luck dropped in on that for him and the deer....
  17. I broke this up due to "rambling" if you were to take those 4 seeds in that blend and go say 10# each it would break down to this..mined you not sure which clover ladino they actually used and inoculation adds a little weight... but you'll notice pricing is about the same: add and divide by 40# If you go to 25# bags each it gets cheaper arrow..39.99 crimson...39.99 Ladino...59.99 Alfalfa....59.99
  18. https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/season/flu-season.htm timing...I get my shot before bow season or first week every year
  19. OK I'm nice but I'm not making a chart Yes my first "copy cat " blend was the extreme and it cost less with some very good seed... I depends on the blend and pricing. The thing one needs to remember is, All seed blends and this includes the wht tail blends, are only as good as the soils they are in. So I prefer to put my $$ into the soil not necessarily the seed. This is why I will go with a $8 40# bag of plot shot over a full priced bag of say Wht tail or Tecomate. They really aren't going to do any more than the other if my soil doesn't have the nutrients nor the plants the ability to take up the nutrients. If your plants do not take up as much nutrients as possible in their growth cycle...the animals eating them aren't either. That said there is a difference in plant structure that will make one more desirable than another due to plant Breeding as it were. So lots of reading can guide you through this. Though I know what the deer are eating here and the extreme variety of their diet so I concentrate on not only feed value and preference but what is that crop going to do for my soils..Every thing has to have more than one purpose for my $$ and time. Now I don't know what you plan on planting from wht tail but here is what I can show you from Hancock that is a pretty fair blend and it gives seeding rates...Remember rates are a bit subjective...I always plan on a high seeding ..weather bugs birds all factor in and seed viability...All clovers aren't equal some hard seeded clovers (reseeding annuals) will have a certain amount of seed lay dormant for over a year before sprouting...again things to read up on. Now if you look at seeds in blend,no shipping and no taxes then divide 25# into 89.99 your looking at a straight 3.60 a #...I think that's not bad at all. You just have to look around.
  20. I told my daughter her Dad got me a new phone..It took him months to find an actual new s4 not refurbished. She laughed and said now that you bought a "new" oldest phone in the world...think you'll loose it? Hey It was a great phone for what I needed. Actually the flip phone I had was great but the plan we share wouldn't allow it. Had to be a "smart phone" I told him I didn't want one of the "upgraded" versions...half of them are like carrying around an old style calculator...
  21. timing as with many things is the key...that and an endless supply of alcohol wipes...grocery store carts...eeewwww
  22. getting tired of these kindle corrections...changes words yet doesn't seem to mind actual typing errors.. Wandered off not wondered...though she may have been wondering who was talking to her So it was : a nice way to end one's day ...That was the result of a complete Kindle change I was trying to fix...Thank heavens the charging port is on it's last leg...lol
