    A few years ago I was hunting some wet lands around a river up north. I came to what looked like a natural ridge or raise in the land. I went up and over it and on the far side sunk up to my diaphragm in mud. Was pretty scary... ended up having to use my rifle laid flat in front of me as a plank to kinda lay on to get my legs free.     I understand the desire not to mess with someone's spot. However, this is public hunting land, you can't just put your stand against a tree and claim it as your spot. If you want your own spot then buy or lease. Put a bench in a park... people will sit on it, same should go for "tree seats" *disclaimer ... I don't really hunt public land often.
