SuperMag replied to Caveman's topic in Muzzleloaders

Anyone going out for the early ML season up north?

Are you on the left or right side of rt 30 going toward Indian Lake? I hear of a lot of moose crossing there near the pig rock near perkins clearing. A couple years back one of the guys in our camp found a huge moose rub. -

I usually go up route 8 to get to Speculator and have seen some big deer hanging at a camp on the left side of the road headed north. Maybe you've seen it before. -

Myself and a group of friends have a camp in speculator. You don't see as many deer but when you do most of the time they're big. Going up tomorrow afternoon for ML and next weekend for rifle. -

This guy was in my stand when I climbed up this afternoon. Anyone know what species it is? -

Got in the stand at 230. Some kind of bird about 10 yards away making a very annoying noise nonstop for the past half hour. Not sure what it is. Looking like it might rain here... -
Very good to know. I also have a model 750 (which they recently discontinued) with the junk mag but I have some metal 7400 mags for it. I did not know they would work in a 7600. Thank you!
-
I would be willing to bet that's where your problem is. The newer style mags with the plastic on the bottom are junk. If you can find the older style from a 760 or an early 7600 they might solve your problem. They're all metal. That's what I use in mine and they work flawlessly. I just keep the plastic ones as spares.
-
That's my all time favorite gun Remington produced. Does it have a magazine with the plastic on the bottom?
-
They do still make the synthetic version. If you end up getting a wood stock one id be willing to sell you my synthetic stock if you really want synthetic.
-
Try bore butter, it works. Just rub it into the receiver and other spots that rust and you won't have that problem again.

I have two 7600s, one is a 22" 270 and the other is a 30-06 carbine. Also have a 760 30-06 carbine. Favorite guns in my collection. No cons to speak of. The matte bluing will rust if you don't have a humidifier in your cabinet but it comes off with a little rem oil. To avoid this i use bore butter on my receiver. Haven't had a problem since. You CAN still get a regular blued receiver instead of the matte bluing. The regular bluing looks nicer in my opinion.. these guns used to come in many different calibers however now its just the usual 243, 308, 270, and 30-06.

Cartridge headstamp in wooden stock?
SuperMag replied to SuperMag's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Not looking to "pimp" my rifle or make it flashy. I just think an embedded headstamp would be different and was wondering if anyone has done it. If i were to do it, it wouldn't be where Lenny's is. I would like one embedded into the receiver. -
Has anyone done this to their stock or does anyone know where i could possibly get something like this done? I've only seen it on a few different rifles but always thought it would be cool to have. The picture is of one of the Benoit brothers Remington 7600.

It's a matte silver so it doesn't really shine but it's still silver so it does shine a little but it's not over whelming.
-
No, you cannot shoot smokeless powder out of it. Only black powder substitute.
-
I don't own one, however i have shot one and they are very nice. Check out the 200th anniversary one on remingtons site.

Thanks guys, I will definitely report when i site it in. I myself also like blued finish guns and have plenty of them but this was my first gun with a stainless barrel and i like the look of silver scopes on stainless barrels more than a matte black set up. I'm seriously considering carrying this gun all next season.
-
A while back i posted a thread asking who makes a nice silver scope. I ended up springing for the Leupold vx-2 and so far i love it. Just put it on tonight so i have yet to use it, but here it is on my Remington Ultimate ML. It's mounted on Leupold dual dovetails.

Good valid statements here guys. Now my next question for you guys without see throughs would be what scopes are you using at what power? I have 3-9x40s on everything except my 223 which has a 4-12 but I've been tossing around the idea of putting a fixed 4 power on my new 7600 in .270.

Does anyone here use them? On other forums I've been on people absolutely despise them for some reason. I've always used them on my "thick cover" guns like my 760s and 750 and don't plan on changing unless theres a very good reason to. I understand that the closer the scope is to the barrel, the more accurate it is, however i do like being able to use the rifle sights OR the scope.
