  1. I'd recommend the remington 1100 or 1187. I have a few 12 ga 1187s, and 12, 16, and 20 ga 1100's, all of them get used heavily for small game and clays. The Versa Max and the V3 are good guns also but they just aren't in the same league as the 1100 or 1187 in my opinion. You can set them up however you want too, rifled slug barrel, bird barrel, cantilever, etc... As of right now the Versa and V3 don't have slug barrels.
  2. No i have not. So you are right i don't know that all the powder burns from testing it, however the accuracy from shooting 150 grains of powder vs 200 grains is outstanding. i have shot this gun many times trying different bullets/powders and have found that this is what it likes. I'm not trying to say this is the best ml you can buy, I'm just saying that i enjoy the hell out of mine and it treats me well.
  3. I have the Remington Ultimate ML and it is hands down the most accurate ml i have ever shot. I'm shooting 200 grains of pyrodex behind a 250 grain hornady sabot and the powder does completely burn. It is not primitive like the old hawken i have but I'm ok with that. This ml handles and looks great. In my opinion remington did a great job on this gun. Is $1000 a lot for a ml? Yes. Does the quality of the gun reflect on the price? Definitely. My only complaint about it is that the primed brass is not available anywhere and it is not a standard pistol brass. I have yet to see it in stores and have been having trouble getting them shipped to NY. Not really a big deal because i reload, and yes they are very easy to decap and reprime. The brass takes a 9 1/2 magnum rifle primer. However i am trying to work up a cut down 308 brass instead of buying the primers from remington because 308 brass is obviously much more available.
  4. I did try optics planet but they only have the matte version. I may just buy that if i cannot find a gloss one.
  5. Im looking for a Weaver K4 to put on my Rem 7600. Its got a high gloss stock and a blued receiver/barrel but i cannot find a gloss K4 anywhere (besides the 80th anniversary one for $400) I see the matte finished ones for about $160 but id really like to get a gloss one if i could. Anyone know where i could find one?
  6. The same exact thing happened to me. I had a 16 ft ladder stand and someone stole the bottom section on the private property that only myself, my father, and my neighbor hunt on. It was stolen over the summer and randomly found laying somewhere in the woods during this season by my neighbor..... Weird
  7. I have a 750 in 30-06 and yes, it did have cycling problems at first. I sent it back and haven't had a problem with it since then. It shoots and cycles great now. My father bought one last year and his cycled perfect out of the box. Also a great looking gun in my opinion.
  8. I currently have a redfield revenge on my remington 750 and i love it. I saw the silver one but it looks like it is discontinued.
  9. Looking for a silver scope to put on one of my rifles that has a stainless action/barrel. So far i have only seen the nikon prostaff which is a nice scope but i would like to see what else is out there. Who else makes a silver scope? Preferably 3-9 and no more than $225.
  10. I thought the same thing before i shot it, but surprisingly it isn't bad at all. Its a fairly heavy gun so that helps with the recoil a lot.
  11. That very well could be, however I've always found out right at the register if i got approved or denied.
  12. Here in 6s i went and purchased my license back in September and realized my dmp says instant next to it. Since then i haven't heard of anyone around here that has gotten denied. Since i have started hunting i don't ever remember seeing any of my dmps saying instant next to them. Does this mean that everyone who applied in 6s automatically received a dmp?
  13. Yes, it is designed to shoot 200 grains and it burns it very efficiently. I went to sight it in with 150 grains of pyrodex but wasn't getting the groups i expected so i increased to 200 grains and now get very tight groups.
  14. 200 grains of pyrodex pellets with the hornady sst sabots. Ive found that my ML doesn't like anything less than that.
  15. I had a CT scan a couple years back and actually had an allergic reaction to the iodine.
  16. Does blackhorn come in pellets or is it only loose? Im curios because I've heard a lot of good things about it and would like to shoot it out of my remington instead of the pyrodex pellets I've been using. I would use loose but they don't recommend it in my ML.
  17. I agree... i paid $400 for it.
  18. I have the Remington ultimate muzzleloader. It is expensive for a muzzleloader though. I also have a traditions buckstalker and it is a great gun.
  19. The 783 is a good gun for the money in my opinion. They shoot and feel good. It would be hard for me to say that Remington has fallen off because I have just recently bought the new 700 ultimate muzzleloader and the quality of that gun is amazing.
  20. Where abouts in 6R? I live and hunt in 6S and we've been seeing more and more good sized bear each year. Doesn't seem like many members on here are from around here.
  21. I live and hunt in 6S. Put as many hours as possible in this year mainly hunting mornings and have only seen one deer that i got on opening weekend. Also have been hunting at our hunting camp in 5H and haven't seen a single deer. Must just be a bad year for my area. I'd continue sitting in the same spot. You're bound to see deer eventually.
  22. Listen to opening day by Rhett Atkins. Good song. Also predate that's one of my favorites.
