  1. Its a B/S gimmick. Stay as scent free as possible and don't waste your money is right. First of all, most bucks, Big bucks are killed during rut or gun season. You don't need ozonics during these periods.
  2. Hey Bud! I wasn't going to reply to this topic but I must. Do not be discouraged, as everyone states the best time is just arriving. Also, you said warm weather bothers you, it bothers most of us but it didn't bother the 10 point my buddy shot yesterday morning at 57 degrees. Keep getting out there. I have only hunted 3x this year so far. Trying to be a good husband and Dad. I'm giving my wife these weekends so I can be down at camp when I think I will have my best chance at some sightings. Make sure to hunt the 5 days after full moon which falls on Nov. 6th. It will begin to heat up (no pun intended). Some deer/car collisions but not too many just yet. Increase is coming and very soon at that. Good Luck and keep head up!!!
  3. I never use dryer and will never use the dryer. Why risk contamination. Hang in Shed, garage, porch, anywhere rain won't contact.
  4. I prefer buck bombs, picture to the left is why I got him last year. Picked it up at 50 and came in like he was on a leash.
  5. Wow! Some people have to stop passing judgment. The Kid is 16 years old. Give him credit and stop being harsh. It's happen to all of us and if it hasn't, it will sometime. Young man is out in the woods hunting and then up late on this forum trying to get advice. We all learn from our mistakes.
  6. 65 plenty for pass through. Hopefully you caught partial vital.
  7. Interesting, would guess you hit high, but yes send pics. What poundage bow you shooting?
  8. Ok. Like some have said not really enough information. Congrats on the hit now focus on recovery. When you say "found another drop", that sounding a bit ominous. Go back to impact spot, START OVER Check for hair, blood anything. Take it slow.
  9. Yes weather is frustrating. However, what should you do. Get out there, I can assure you this, the house will be warmer.
  10. Hey BUD!!! Nice job! Thats how you get her done! Nice shots, even the first shot. Any bow hunter will tell you, not every arrows hits the intended spot. That's all in the past. What matters is after the shot. Get out of the woods, almost always unless you physically see the deer fall. Beautiful rack. I love how high he is!!!
  11. Beautiful Buck! Is he a 12 point?
  12. BandQ said it perfect. We learn every time we go out. To me, that's part of the fun. Since we are on this topic and you mentioned sit-pad a bunch I will mention I "WILL NOT" carry one anymore. See, it just goes to show you, everyone does something different and what might be good for you might not for me and vice-versa. I prefer no carry pad. Less bulky items to carry and it forces me to stand more, meaning I will be more attentive. I also refuse to wear any sort of glove on my shooting hand or release hand. I do however use a quality muff with an activated hot hand warmer inside. I have learned this through countless encounters with Deer and awkwardly fumble to get my release anchored. We all have our idiosyncrasies, that's the beauty of it!!!
  13. Ok. I was just throwing the question out there. Like I said, a few are torn up. I don't hunt that piece often, maybe 3 sits a year. Its a 5 acre wooded lot surrounded by 60/70 acre fields all around. Its a nice spot but have to puts in lots of sits before they make their way through.
  14. Please work technology. This took awhile!
  15. I can't figure out how to attach pic.
  16. Was on a leisurely walk and found 5-7 similar. I need to get to camp.
  17. NY Antlers is spot on. Me too, I'm In Southerntier. We took 3 doe 2nd weekend, Myself, my Bro and my Dad in that order all on Sunday go figure. Anyway, very few ticks noticed, maybe 1. Btw, we haven't been back down since. We go for a week starting Nov. 7th.
  18. If you feel necessary inform the land owner. I would not call the DEC. I have come across several scenes as you mention. All I do is shake my head and give myself and my family more credit for doing it the right way. If someone wants to cheat or risk this sort of tactic so be it. In the end, they know what they've done.
  19. My mistake. I guess I'm talking 2nd week of November. But I just looked this morning and its changed drastically AGAIN.... One thing I have learned. Don't check the weather until 2-3 days before. They literally have changed it every day for the last 3 days.
  20. I hope the weather turns cold and stays. I don't want to be hunting when its highs are near 60 low near 40, about 15 degrees too warm. I think we need to get it done early A.M. Lets hope for some good weather and lets go get some buck!
  21. I can and will say this, Charlie has the means and dedication to be a invaluable source when trying to learn or add knowledge so we can become more well-rounded in this very complicated animal. Whether you like or dislike him, whether you believe his theories, whether you care at all is your own choice. To me: You'd be ignorant not to atleast aknowledge and appreciate some of his theories. The amount of hours he has in the woods is just incredible... A man that truly loves the whitetail!!!
  22. Means full-blown rut from Nov. 1st - 15th. Rut will occur thats for sure... But the weather and hunting pressure will effect this greatly. Be in the woods Veterans day week. They'll be on their feet.
  23. It's triggered completley by photosensitivity period. The amount of light which enters the iris. This will then trigger doe to go into Estrous. Doe going into Estrous is what causes the Bucks to RUT!
