Thanks for hanging that Zeek. I saw it late last nigh and ironically I came through Livonia yesterday at 5pm and would have stopped if I'd have known about it. The price seems very fair (?) but I'm not looking for lifted and monkeyed with stuff. More like am old man's ride?!?! I stopped at my buddies place today, he has a Polaris Sportsman 500 HO and it appears to be in nice shape. It's not for sale anyway but it's not really what I'm looking for. It seems so big physically (maybe just my imagination?) and it is tall too. The Honda Foreman I'm familiar with seem to be more compact and certainly have plenty of ground clearance for my interests.

I'm not sure how to take that?

LOL, it just came to me after messing with Google. The kick start is under the red plastic logo'd cover on the right side of the machine.......you had to pop it off (three grommets with plugs held it in place) then you could fold the shifter in and replace the cover. A couple other things I saw on Google I forgot about were the detachable headlight and how the rear fenders and rack were hinged. You'd take the seat off and spin out a couple big headed knobs, then lift it up. Very cool but dangerous machine.

Pretty sure the one in this picture was a 1985 (my buddies) but yea, mine was a 1986 for sure..... EDIT-I looked closer and this one could have been mine. My buddy Rob lived with me on Campbell Blvd and we would ride like manics on both the east and west side of Campbell. Well over 1000 acres we'd run through like the 25 year old punks we were.

Positive.........

Mine had a kick start, not a recoil rope......and it was a bear to start.

I bought a new Honda Big Red (3 wheeler) in 1986..........it never left me or anybody else stranded. I think I put a few batteries in it over the years and sold it to my uncle back in the pate 90's. He sold it about 5 years ago and I'd bet dollars to donuts it's still running like a champ.

Apparently just a little shorter than a Toyota Tacoma TRD. I was traveling west on Sumner Rd from 77 and as I was coming over a slight rise, I looked at my speedometer briefly as I thought I was going too fast......I looked up and this fat opossum is right in my sights. Somehow I breezed over the top of him and he, other than some wind burn, escaped a darn close call.

Well put Chris. I'd be willing to bet this is a more accurate description of how the OP hunts rather than just hunting one specific deer, which sounds much more exciting & skillful.

Sent you a PM.

LOL, me and my speculating. So there ya go Jeremy, it went east and now it could come west again. So Mr Dinsdale......"EPIC HUNT"?? You have some explaining to do...........

I shouldn't speak for Dan but I will (!).........He bought a Honda Spree from me a few years ago. It was my FIL's and I got it fired up and listed it here for shits & giggles. He made me an offer I couldn't refuse and even drove up and got it. I doubt he's looking to sell but maybe??

Started looking for a decent used 4 wheeler recently. Thinking Honda, Yamaha or Suzuki although I have no personal experience with the last two. I've owned numerous Honda product and my buddy has two Foreman machines so do know a little about them. All my seat time with the Honda machines was with foot shift systems and am quite surprised to see lots of the push button shifting on machines on the web, listed for sale. The other thing I have seen is power steering.....? Seems these days brand new four wheelers are scarce as hens teeth, driving used machine prices through the roof. I've looked at a couple that I spotted on FB Marketplace; one local that could have been a decent deal if the guy that owned it since new didn't just pound the living snot out of it since it was new, he couldn't even clean the thing up prior to listing it. It didn't have many miles on it but he lied about that, telling me it had 100 miles on it and I got there and it was closer to 500. The mileage wasn't the big deal the lie was. Also, it had oil all over the side of it and he told me that he changed the front and rear diff fluids because they looked milky? It was a 2018 Rancher and unless that thing was swamped badly it shouldn't have needed that. Believe me, he wasn't a mechanic doing it because he was anal, something was up with it. I walked on that one.... Looked at another one today that was a 2012 Foreman on a local farm, only about 950 miles and 200 some hours but it looked like it fell off a rail car and got dragged for a couple miles. Too bad, the price wasn't bad and I think I could have chewed him down some more. (chewed, not _____) One other thing about that one that had me nervous, the guys father bought it in Pennsylvania and they didn't have any paper work on the purchase, that gave me a furrowed brow. I checked at a couple local dealers and they (like I mentioned) have little new stock and almost no used rides. If anyone knows of a decent deal on a good 400-700 machine, holler.

I'm going to go out on a limb......knowing what I know about Rob , I'm going to say today isn't really his birthday. He probably set his profile up on a whim, thinking he'd be in & out of here PDQ but alas, he seems to enjoy most of us and likes the joint. Good for him! And if today really is your DOB, Happy Birthday DirtTime!

Very nice.... At what point in the pre-season do you make the determination on what buck you'll target or is it an evolving decision through the season depending on trail cam pics?
-
I think you're on to him Bill....
-
I’ll say “not me”. Please explain how you do it........many here would love to hear some of your strategic moves to outwit the bucks. To have your success year in and year out I’d say that your just hunting the same general area each fall and catching those bucks in the same areas. If not that, I don’t know how many trip to camp you take each year but it’d have to be substantial or you’re relying heavily on multiple cell cams. Either way, I’m all ears.

This thread is like a run away train (no reflection on anyone's profession!) going off into a ditch........... Thanks to those that have appreciated the buck for what its worth. I think it's pretty cool to recognize the animal and hunter, I doubt I'll ever (or my offspring) see my name in a "book" of any sort other than NYSBBC and P&Y. I ain't famous for shiit; no saved lives, no patents, no inventions, haven't won any races (political, foot or MV) yet and doubt I will. For many years my ambition (maybe that's not the correct word for it?) was to shoot a deer that weighed more than I did. in 2009 I shot with the bow a buck that dressed 217lbs. Live weight put him over my live weight. I never had any ambition of shooting a P&Y buck but am pretty happy I did and get to enter it into their book. Hey, HAPPY NEW YEAR you lugnuts.......my rack of lamb is ready!

I had my archery buck scored last night by a local P&Y, B&C and NYBBC official. The final score is 138 2/8".......I'll do the paper work today and send it in for both NYBBC and P&Y. Many aren't into record keeping of their animals and that's fine, it does give a number to those who might have an interest in the mass, tine length and spread. Along with dressed weight and age of the bigger bucks I've killed, the "score" is just another interesting number for those that care. Two other bucks I've shot qualified for NYBBC; one with the ML'r and one with the bow. Many big bucks are spotted on trail cams each year but few are actually killed, where the hell they disappear to each fall is a mystery and exactly what keeps many here going. I'm really not a trophy hunter but have been very fortunate to have killed some great bucks by letting smaller bucks walk and being out there in the woods each fall. I've been know to shoot a dink if the mood strikes me..... I'd be curious to hear about (and see pics of) your officially scored bucks or bears! How about Boone & Crockett animals??
