  1. that's my point. to us hunters it's not. When I inherit my fathers someday and my kids mine it will be even more.
  2. i've reminded a few of my anti-gun friends about the ariana grande concert attack that they have forgoten about in the very gun prohibited part of the world.
  3. a troll is someone who pushes peoples buttons for no reasons other than to get a reaction. that's not the case here. i dont visit sections, i scroll the unread feed. you asked a question and you got answers. why you didn't post a poll i don't know. seems maybe you didn't get the response you wanted though.
  4. those are facts, but they're not on the same level as the video i posted or other crossbow aids. The whole argument for crossbows at one point was for the disabled and you know my stance on that. So you just cant compare the 2. You aren't going to win this one with me. there are other holes you can poke at, but not that one.
  5. I was thinking last night about the guns I lost a few years ago when my boat sank on lake ontario. It sucks they're all lost now. I had 8. Some would lose their mind at that right? Why on earth does anyone need 8 guns!? The founding fathers had flintlocks blah, blah, blah one small caliber rifle given to me by my father on my 12th birthday. great for plinking and small game. one large caliber rifle. good for deer and bear that i hunt. one smooth bore shotgun with 2 barrels. good for flying birds and those that strut with beards. one rifled barrel shotgun good for deer in 7J where i cannot use my rifle. one muzzleloader. good for late season deer. 3 pistols in .380, .40 and .45. All for carrying under different conditions and clothing or as home defense bedside safe. so tell me again how crazy i am when I tell you that I owned an ARSENAL of 8 firearms and I must be crazy. Man I wish I checked that boat for leaks before I launched.
  6. what is mechanical in my shoulder when pulling back a string? what cocking device am I using? And please don't go down that path. the crossbow stays cocked. Yes there is a letoff, yes there is something attached to my wrist when pulling back. No it's not a recurve. But it's still not even close and you know it.
  7. i'm really not riled up at all. i'm just not motivated to do work today. i think it's a good discussion.
  8. we're talking about all crossbows. if you can pull it back with any kind of mechanical assistance than it's just not the same.
  9. that was my answer. you just don't like it. anyhow, the fear of firearms is not my rallying cry against the crossbow in archery season. I have about 8 other reasons before i get to that one. And yes we're all just making the same points over and over again that we've made for 5+ years now
  10. yes newest iOS and up to date app. other forums like archery talk work just fine. I feel like it might be a login or authentication issue. It knows its me and knows my activity but says i dont have permission to post.
  11. The DEC. They want deer dead. In their eyes there's nothing more efficient than the firearm.
  12. I know very well off people with cheap ass cars and vise versa. He was single and didn't need a mansion. But you do know he had at LEAST 3 other homes right? 1 in texas, 2 in vegas and another in florida. oh and planes. freaking planes!
  13. I know. But isn't that what us gun owners use as the defense to not giving an inch with tighter gun control laws?
  14. speed is not my issue and i don't think it's many others. It's that one of the most critical aspects of archery is knowing when to draw. Waiting so your movement doesn't spook the deer, not drawing too early so you can hold it and hold it steady enough for a clean release. Many archers also shoot standing. A crossbows movement is no different than gun hunting. Archers don't hunt because it's easy, they do it for the challenge.
  15. one of the question asked if those limits should be removed. You know the definition of pornography right? "You can't describe it, but you know it when you see it". You can use all the terminology you like with me to explain how this is the same as a compound, but I know what archery is when I see it. Full rest, no draw, auto-cocking, scope, buttstock, pistol grip...not archery in my book.
  16. UPDATE: Footage from the shooting in Las Vegas Sunday night appearing to show gunfire emanating from the center of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino could likely be a strobe light, according to police audio of the incident. just stop! these blogs you love pray on dudes like you. the conspiracy theory is what drives their clicks. thank god they corrected this one.
  17. one of the most ignorant things i've read. This guy was meticulous. Wasn't on any radar and wouldn't surprise me if he wiped all his hard drives. They have a real good idea by now, but the worst thing they can do is jump to conclusions. There's enough blogs and politicians and papists out there already doing it for them. Give it some time and you'll get your answer. jesus.
  18. Simply a counter view, not disputing the claim. But tall buildings and landscapes like the one in question can create interesting echos and sound affects. ricochets are also prevalent. And a multimillionaire could very well have all sorts of gear to disguise his location, hide his flash etc.
  19. of course there is. dude could have written a 20 page manifesto for all we know. we're just over 24 hours in. People need to relax. The details will come out.
  20. i've yet to meet another hunter who wouldn't support an easier permit system for people with disabilities. It's not hard shoot a good practice group. But get in a stand, fully geared up in 25* weather after sitting for 3 hours with your heart pounding and do it all just the same? Oh and don't get busted by the draw. Oh and dont forget to bend at the waist and don't drop your bow arm because you're not flat footed in the backyard in shorts and a t-shirt. Stop pretending like it's a cake walk.
  21. well there are some some seasons in other states that allow this. For example, in mississippi they have primitive weapons season 2 weeks between bow and gun opener. you can continue to bow hunt (best time of the year) or you can bring in the smoke pole. I can promise you, especially when hunting pressured land that it's not easy to choose the stick and string over the front stuffer. The fear is that it doesn't stop at the crossbow.
  22. there's a line. this crosses it for me. https://www.ispot.tv/ad/A4xJ/ravin-crossbows-100-yards is this really "archery"?
  23. He had a suit. Not the same angel. Confirmed. possible he was getting up and moving. He belt shooting platforms at both spots. Dude planned hardcore. theyre not confirming or denying he might be part of a government agency. Very interesting.
