  1. just a hypothetical. you know the nra would never allow it. so yes, hypothetically those are your only 2 options. it's worked with cigarettes. so there's a 5% tax on guns and ammo. Your $20 box of shells adds $1. Your $700 gun adds $35. Or maybe it's less. Would you sign up for that if it allowed you to buy 30 round mags again and ARs and all the stuff the safe act took away? the money has to be earmarked for mental health programs and anti-violence gang prevention etc. Maybe it's added to gun law enforcement division that goes after illegal gun sales and traffic. Whatever, but it can't be added to the general fund. Similar to how the hunting license system works toward conservation.
  2. there are many ranges that have bow courses setup in addition to their pistol and rifle range. The pure beauty of archery is that it does take time. so the average swinging dick can't just plop into the forest. if you're serious enough you join a club and shoot at their range. if you don't have time for that, then you don't value cutting something else out to make it happen and then you stick to gun. btw, i have 3 kids under 5 and a fulltime job. I make it work by sacrificing other things i'd like to do.
  3. and that's why it's hard not to believe this wasn't politically motivated from the left. the cynic in me believes they're not releasing that info because of the fear that the divide this country is already in. waiting for it to cool.
  4. btw, 2/3 of gun deaths annually are suicides. and bump stock were passed under obama. that's my favorite.
  5. of course there needs to be a plan. There are numerous studies that show how anti-gun laws have not prevented or decreased gun crimes. WE all know that criminals don't care. This particular guy might be an outlier. And even with improved mental health there will be another in the future. but if you as a gun owner were given an option. More safe act type legislation or a small ammo/gun tax or a small increase in healthcare premiums to help fund better mental health, gang and crime prevention etc. would you reluctantly sign off on it?
  6. there's a level of challenge that varies for all hunters. having to predict my clown neighbors movements so now i'm competing against deer, mother nature and another human is not one I'd love to add. To be clear, it's only bow season where i believe many hunters want less pressure, noise and scent in the woods. Gun? Bring it on haha.
  7. and 90% of bowhunters have no issue with the disabled using a crossbow. quit bringing that up.
  8. chances are the guy who sucks with his compound is getting busted on the draw or clean missing more than he's wounding.
  9. true. but it's a start. i don't disagree that these things can't keep happening and we can just keep shrugging our shoulders. Even with legal carry at that concert you wouldn't be able to defend yourself. I don't want to live in fear where even a church isn't safe anymore. heck the archery woods were safe until some guy just arrowed his buddy lol.
  10. i didn't pic on anyone, my response was in response to the 2nd pic that was posted and the excuse that we all see dead deer. I didn't really have an issue with the first pic either. like the poster said it wasn't one that was shared with the public. /done
  11. I'll add this. this is something us republicans might need to consider or compromise on. We have long held the belief that guns don't kill people and that many of the non-crime/gang related shootings and mass murders (which always spark these debates) are done by the mentally ill. And that we need better mental health services in this country. well you can't preach and promote that and in turn be very anti-health services with your legislation. I'll admit to being anti-obama care. My premiums have gone up. life isn't roses, but there are bigger issues in the world and this whole thing feels like a grudge now and that's why it wont pass. In short, if you want to blame mental health and rightfully so, you have to support legislation to address it. And that doesn't mean taking guns away, but just simply having more affordable and better access to care.
  12. when you're having fun debates with your anti-gun friends and they cite some shit that kimmel said, remind them that he got his start on the man show. a show that ended with big breasted girls jumping on a trampoline. They're using him as a mouthpiece right now, but could quite honestly freak out if that show existed today. the SEXISM!
  13. i heard he has tuesday 3pm chiropractic appointments. find his doc and you get him!
  14. i'm a bit of an audiophile. I've spent thousands on home and car audio over the years. to really decipher what gun was used you'd need to capture the shooting on high grade equipment (not a cell phone) and then replay through some hi-end headphones or sound system. It's why watching the normandy scene of saving private ryan is almost too real on 5.1 and not so scary on an iphone. just my .02. I have no doubt that he really did have bump feed ARs, yes we have to trust the authorities here, but there were too many low ranking cops and others on the scene for all involved to completely cover up that this guy was using cia issued saw's or some other conspiracy papsmear has come up with.
  15. If they had enough proof that his motives were political and designed to further an agenda they would have labeled him a terrorist. I'm not saying he's not, but they clearly are still struggling to pin down his motive with certainty. My fear is that they do discover it was political and then call him a terrorist and a bunch of hippy libs start freaking out that they should have labeled him that from the start and it wasn't until we knew he was anti-trump that he was a terrorist and blah, blah, blah. But anyhow, him being at a rally doesn't also mean he killed 58 people people because he didn't vote for trump. I know some members on here that would like to believe that, but ones religion, race, gender etc. doesn't always cause them to do evil things. some people are just f'n wrong in the head.
  16. what we see and experience in the field and what we choose to capture and share are not the same. We all gut our deer, but I wouldn't post a picture of a doe with her gall bladder pulled through her cored out ass.
  17. i'm not shooting doe quite yet but i had one nice breeder with 2 buttons. she was liking their faces and stuff. I'm sitting there watching like dammit. lol.
  18. papsmear really is no better than the reaction of some anti-gun folks who instantly politicize it and jump to conclusion. You're just doing the same but trying to make it fit your, anti-islam/liberal agenda. if the guy was black you'd have a triple crown. just wait and lets see. maybe it'll all make sense. maybe it'll never make sense.
  19. we're not as angry as you think. I get the impression some of you think the opponents are sitting behind our keyboards with spittle flying and yelling out loud. I'm just killing time because i can't focus today and i have an opinion. if i had to vote, i'd vote against. if it gets in anyhow, i wont lose any sleep, just like i didn't when they were introduced to part of the season. you keep Damion out of this!
  20. it's funny because there is a sense of pride and accomplishment with the bow hunt that you know the average swinging dick cannot achieve. we're elitist right? lol i don't want to be lumped in with bad gun owner either. i don't want to lumped in with canned hunters either.
  21. for you and I maybe. there's people on this very forum who play with half a deck and will run with bad info. worries me to be honest. copy cats, misinformed revenge. not good.
  22. the bow hunter is lone wolf. he prefers the woods to himself. he needs the deer to be relaxed and easier to draw in close. he doesn't view archery season as the fun camp atmosphere that gun season is. he loves each season for its own uniqueness. land access is and will continue to be our biggest problem as hunters. and you can call me every name in the book and believe my stance is just my own and that nobody shares it. but i'm a blunt guy. more hunters is not what the bowhunter wants. our leases disappear, the farms and fields developed into housing tracks, our properties sold or our rights lost or the land we want to buy is out of our price range. all we hope for is less pressure during our season to help us be successful. Adding a much easier, gun like tool to a season just increases the number of hunters. as simple and as selfish as that. If you want to hunt with and around me, put in your time and hunt with the same surgical precision i do so we the deer dont know we're here. flame suit on.
  23. I'm not calling out anyones manhood. we're talking about weapons we use in a sport that most of us do for fun, not for necessity. don't take it so serious.
  24. i agree. but wackos often can't think straight to coordinate all that went into this. I've often thought about this type of event. What happens when someone with money and half a brain in their head decides they're going to do some damage? A lot of the mass shooting are poorly executed or poorly thoughtout because there's some rage or fuel. the scary thing here is this guy might be a pyscopath and just methodically went about planning to kill as many people as he could without emotion behind it. wasn't all over message boards tipping off authorities. but something still doesn't add up. a guy this smart and who planned this well has fertilizer in his trunk? but never made a bomb, but knew how to modify firearms? doesn't add up.
