I think you should do it your way, its what you want out of the hunt. Here where I live it not impossible to find a mature buck with the rack and body weight, but they didn't get that way being stupid. Most go or are nocturnal and your best chance to get a shot would be during the rut, stick close to the Doe the more the better than use the wind direction to your advantage. If you want to kill a big buck NY may not be the place to pick and choose because when you let that eight go he may not live long enough to grow, I'd head to Saskatchewan. Or the USA states with big bucks there are a lot of big buck hunting with out the people population that the Bucks grow to the size your looking for.

Sat today it was cold but not as bad as Tuesday, very crunchy but nothing moving at all.

During Bow things where slow really don't like it starting as early as it did. All the Bucks on my Cam's where 12am-2am most activity. On 11/11-11/16 I checked Scraps being checked night no daytime deer pic's only the three doe I seen opening day one with hurt back leg. No chasing since opening day Scrapes are stale maybe tending doe or shot on opening day. Will pull them this week like to see what's still kicking, I am going to move in closer to thicker cover to see what's going on, when pressures on I usually can pull it off and kill a big one hanging close to doe bedding

Ok Amish do hunt & do where Orange. They do trespass they go where they want when they want unless you talk to there leader of the Home and say NO. You can not hunt their land even those that suck up to them find out what's theirs is theirs what yours is theirs some exceptions.They don't own a truck,tractor, combine, or any other modern things but do borrow and use it. They do use electric in there milk tank houses and I think the company picks up that bill last I heard. They do use school buses but they do pay tax's. I heard that since they moved in deer went down, but same thing with the bigger farms English that shoot everything and everything. They are just like every other person some good some bad. I'll tell you this they did not stop at firearms with there rules they don't use muzzle loaders they have some good firearms I stopped one driving deer in my YARD played deaf I walked up on him told him NO plus to close to houses he had a 30-06 bolt Remmy 700 with Zeiss scope worth more than what I had and he was one of the young ones.

Since going Rifle hear less than when Shot gun only, use to hear 5 shot bursts and you know they were shooting at tails. Yesterday heard about 20 shots 5:30am up to 1pm. Seen 3 doe after a couple shots at the top of MY land (no one was to be there?) Doe came about 10-5yrds by me stood watched back still for a while one had a hurt rear hoof? I waited maybe trespasser missed or buck would follow doe up. If your hunting rifle on snow and get a good shot it should be a good clean kill, if you hear 5 shots out a rifle you either are a poor shot or filling brown its down. I hate the Brown its downers.

Cuomo head is large today & when a person with is mental health problem feels like that its no telling what he's thinking, but pay back for all his subjects that stood up to him will pay. I don't know how he won but someone Vote for the SOB, with that said as some know I also have a place in NC but love NY but I stood for the fight in NY and serious thinking of picking up moving South to NC. The good thing is the Weasel Harry Reid is out and the Senate is out of his hands but Obama has 2 more years and with Cuomo running NY & Obama its getting time to Move and work to help NY from the outside, rather than staying and get stripped of Constitutional rights. Safe Act is Unconstitutional and they know it so we are being ruled not Governed, I want my rights for awhile longer, This is not a Run away its just Facts that apply to my life, My brothers & sisters I will always consider upstate NY my home, but is time to think what I have to give up to stay. Package Bushnell Scope. 3x9x40 like $40-60 dollar tops gets the job done but If I was to keep it I'd bump up to something better. It may last a life time but if it was staying I'd would tell you honestly go better maybe a least a Nikon, a lot of guys like the stock scope and use them for a long time.

Spot lighting around here around this time of year is bad, to many driving around spot lighting Yes it does make the deer less likely to stand there, yes it does force them to change there patterns if it done a lot to them. The sun does not trouble them because its natural, sun is not talking or yelling look look or worse shooting out a window at them. The other thing that happens is if a spot lighter does see a piebald or albino, or trophy buck the area gets hit twice as hard by hunters hoping to kill it, also has lead to poaching by some. Word spreads in the country, when I see I big buck I'am on to you bet its me me mine mine because I worked hard for that deer, food plots, etc.. Scouting the right way on foot reading sign patterning the big boy, tree stand placement wind direction and doe bedding area to get close to shoot him. If he leaves my hunting area so be it, if someone poaches him or drives in and out to "push" the area by trespassing you bet it piss's people off. That's why more and more people are posting property because a few a$$clowns ruin it.

Poaching is illegal, Trespassing is Illegal, Spotlighting is not illegal but if they are closer than 500ft from your home Yes Having a weapon in the Truck or Car Yes. I personally don't like Spot lighting because to me its disturbing the deer that with proper scouting you would know what's going on in the woods your hunting ,spot lighting for miles around is not scouting its BS. Like some of the guys said here you will have to start being harder than posted signs, See spot lighting call it in let the police check & hassle them if there poaching they will find the gun or at least ticket them. If you catch one on your land write down there back tag numbers if they won't stick around Call it in as Trespassing. Make it known that if you come around your area be where you should and you will see Spot lighting stop or at least slow down. Word spreads fastest this way more than a Posted Sign.

Its a Never ending problem, Posted signs cost money and time to put up but second to take down. As long as you own land they will be there and they just don't care, if they did they'd read the signs and move on.

where all pictures night time? if he is nocturnal that's good and bad Good he is not being seen by others Bad for you to get a shot. Time him and direction he comes & goes find where he came from and where he is bedding may get you closer to a shot. Once the rut starts if he stays close to he ladies your odds go up. 1st buck 20-26mos 2nd buck 30mos-36mos The feed has been good the last couple years, heavy fruit & nuts last year, corn & heavy nut this year. so the feed has been good for growth,but factor in last winter it was hard & long, neither of those bucks are over 3yrs old.
