Haha I feel bad for mentioning my set up. Didn't mean to get so many people's panties in a bunch. I shoot a Mathews Monster 7.0 @ 70# with a 31in draw. 3fps isn't going to do much to my arrows.

I don't care for fall away rest, just a matter of opinion. I've never had any issues with my set up. I just think too much can go wrong with the fall aways.

Whisker biscuit is the best hunting rest on the market. Very consistent, easy to tune and your arrow won't fall out of it. <br /><br />For a sight I use a trophy ridge vertical 5 pin sight. I like the idea of a single pin but I target shoot my bow out to 70-80 yards and like just having the other pins.

So what time you wanna meet up? Lol

Just signed up. Good luck

Drive to my spot this morning, had thunder and lighting turned around and went home. I would have loved to been in my blind but not worth the risk.

Guess I'm fortunate enough to have a healthy population where I hunt. I'd be pretty upset if there was no spring season. We don't hunt much for them in the fall but have when we have patterned flocks bow hunting. I believe a lot has to do with habitat, nesting areas and predator activity. Not so much coyotes but anything that eats turkey eggs. Also I've only ever seen 1 coyote while hunting, yet to see one in the spring.

Wooly that's some great advice too.

Love this idea. I'm stealing it hope you don't mind.

Was out in saratoga county again today and we had two long beards gobbling on roust and on the ground until 9:00am then they moved to another location. I'm hunting private land and we are the only ones hunting it. Today was the first day in a week they have gobbled on the ground. They are out there keep trying!

I've seen woodchucks in plowed fields all year long while turkey hunting.

Yea we picked up two farms. One is 200ish acres and the other just a touch smaller. Both have streams that run through them. One still has standing corn that the deer and turkey have been in like crazy. We go two pretty nice pieces, hopefully we can hunt them for a while.

I just moved to a new area that's 2 hours away from all my other spots and wanted to find some closer spots. Obviously, gas cost was an issue and who wants to travel two hours to. Scout/hunt. A buddy and myself decided to look at the tax map and pick a few to ask, we ended up knocking on 10 or so doors. I sell cars for a living so I did most of the talking. I would say:<br />"Hello my name is _____, I recently moved to the area and I'm looking for a place to hunt turkeys this coming season. Would you mind if we hunted on your property?" <br />We couldn't get in touch with 6 of the people we tried to track down, 1 "I'm sorry but we hunt our own property", 1 if you had stopped by sooner I would have let you and 2 people said yes. One of the guys even offered up deer season to us. The other we didn't ask but we plan on asking. <br /><br />After get permission we asked where to park and if we would run into any other hunters. They both appreciated us asking those questions. We ended up BSing with both land owners for a while too. Hope you have some luck!

We had birds gobbling all morning. All with hens, couldn't get them to come in.

Awesome story! Congrats to the both of you, turkeys are smart and have a keen eye any bird is a trophy.

Frontline makes a spray for dogs. I sprayed that on my boots and pants and haven't had one on me since. I had two while out scouting. It's is awful smelling but that goes away. I have no idea how much it is but I got it free cause my fiancé works for a vet.

Wild game innovations cameras are pretty good. I have 7 of them, take good pictures and I've only had one out of 8 shit the bed. They are four years old<br />Now and will be going out again this June.

Here are a few things I've found out in my 5 or so years turkey hunting. Turkeys like to roost near a water source. (creek/streams are best) if you don't hear turkeys it doesn't mean they aren't in the area or very close to you . Find open areas where toms can strut(logging roads, open fields hardwoods with little under growth) our best decoy set up is two hens for open fields or logging road. In the woods we've had success with no decoys. We've had our best luck when we know where the birds want to go. Patterning turkeys has resulted in our best luck. Know where they sleep and where they want to go and get in between.

Just upset cause I've been there. Hope everything works out.

My dealership is looking for a tech right now. I don't know what part of the state you live in but we are in Saratoga county. Shoot me a PM if you are close.

Let's see someone take food out of your kids mouth and see what you do. No need to be an ***.

I don't know what you do but I would go to work and start undoing everything I've done in the last two weeks. Tell him you don't work for free.

We've been seeing toms and jakes running with hens until around 10ish depending on weather. Today was overcast and foggy, all the action was first light because the birds couldn't see each other. Didn't hear a peep after the fog cleared. I've hunter 8 out of the 9 days mostly until 10 or so because of work but the guys I talk to have been out non-stop and that is what they are seeing. Unless you know where they are sleeping its best for you to sleep in. Good luck hope you show him how it's done.
